Most human trafficking victims are illiterate and lack the resources they need to live independently. They may not be familiar with or comprehend the laws of the country in which they are currently residing. They may have been trafficked as minors and failed to graduate from high school or college (Cockbain,2020). After being confined to the same job for an extended period of time and denied the opportunity to learn new skills, victims can become dependant. When the time comes, they may find it challenging to live on their own.
