UTOPIAN

SPEAKS

SCHOOL HOURS 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. NO CHECK-OUT AFTER 3:30 p.m

Happy New Year! This new semester has gotten off to a great start. Students came back to school eager to reengage in the learning process. Teachers have also started this semester with lots of enthusiasm to reengage students in the learning process. We have two teachers who are no longer with our school; however, you need not worry. Utopian Academy will continue to provide your children with a high quality education.

Finally, please read announcement below. This is an opportunity for your child to be a part of the decision making process for all public schools, including charter schools. Please encourage your child to be a part of this opportunity. Interested students should submit their names with a recommendation from at least one teacher no later than Wednesday, January 14th at 4 p.m.

Superintendent-elect Woods Seeks Student Advisers

The members of the Student Advisory Council meet three times during the school year with the State School Superintendent to discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting students throughout Georgia. Members are advisers and act as liaisons between the Department of Education and the students of Georgia. Superintendent-elect Woods will be conducting the meetings, which will also feature various DOE personnel providing further information.

All students in grades 7-12 are eligible to apply. Meetings will be held in February, March and early May (dates are subject to change). Applicants should be able to attend all meetings.
