Vauxhall becomes Northern Ireland Title Sponsor
The Irish Football Association today unveiled Vauxhall Motors as their new title sponsor of the Northern Ireland International teams.
Vauxhall, one of Britain's leading automotive brands with a 108-year history of car manufacturing in the UK, has signed a three-and-a-half year agreement with the Irish FA.
The sponsorship includes all senior international fixtures including Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
As well as the senior men’s team, the partnership includes women’s national squads and all national age group teams.
Announcing the partnership at Windsor Park today, Irish FA Chief Executive Patrick Nelson said: "This is truly fantastic news for Northern Ireland football.
"Attracting a sponsor of the calibre and prestige as Vauxhall is great testimony to the progress we are making here.
"The support of Vauxhall will be invaluable in helping us deliver further footballing progress at a senior and junior level."
Vauxhall Managing Director Duncan Aldred said: "We are delighted to be the new title sponsor of the Irish FA.
"We are making a big commitment to football and Northern Ireland is an extremely important piece of this commitment.
"Football and cars are two of our nation's biggest passions and this partnership is a clear and unequivocal sign that Vauxhall is firmly behind not only a successful Northern Ireland senior team but is also committed to supporting grass roots initiatives covering youth and junior football as well as women’s football and disability football."
Northern Ireland International Manager Nigel Worthington said: "I'm delighted that Vauxhall are putting their faith in Northern Ireland football.
"We are all really pleased to have them on board and are sure this is going to prove a very fruitful and successful partnership."
Today's announcement at Windsor Park completes a hat-trick of sponsorship announcements by Vauxhall in the past three days.
Earlier this week Vauxhall announced they had also signed agreements to be the lead partners of the English FA and the Football Association of Wales.

Irish Football Association
Make no mistake about it; the Irish Football Association is one of the true giants of world football.
A lofty claim perhaps but despite a population well below two million, despite only having just over 1,500 registered clubs and despite being able to draw from a pool of approximately 25,000 players spread over less than 5,500 square miles the influence the association had - and still does - on the game across the globe is immeasurable.
Founded in the Queen’s Hotel, Belfast back on 18 November 1880 the Irish Football Association is the fourth oldest governing body in the world behind the other three home associations.
A member of the International Football Board - the rule-making body - the Irish FA sits as an equal with the other British associations and representatives of FIFA itself.
Indeed, the game has an Ulsterman to thank for one of the most important and pivotal developments - the humble penalty kick. William McCrum, goalkeeper for Armagh club Milford FC, lobbied the Irish FA to propose the introduction of the spot-kick in 1890.
This was initially rejected in the belief that one player would not deliberately kick another!
That confusion settled, this new law was passed a year later.....much to the chagrin and delight of football fans the world over on countless occasions.
Equally as important (and, it has to be said, controversial) in the modern game is the offside rule. Again this emanated from our wee country, an idea proposed by Billy McCracken in 1920, an international star of the day.
In 2010, the Irish Football Association celebrated its’ 130th anniversary.
