Len Pasquarelli, ESPN: the contract defensive end John Abraham signed with the Atlanta Falcons is precisely as advertised. Six years for $45 million… the contract includes a signing bonus of $12.5 million and roster bonuses of $1 million for 2006 and $2 million for 2007. The annual base salaries are $2 million (2006), $2 million (2007), $6 million (2008), $5 million (2009), $6.5 million (2010) and $8 million (2011).
Pat Yasinskas, ESPN: the three-year deal averages $5.573 million per season… Abraham received a $2.25 million signing bonus. He’ll make $1.5 million in base salary this season. He also has two roster bonuses this year, worth a combined $2.156 million. Some of that is tied to how many games Abraham, who has had some injuries in the past, participates in. Abraham’s salary-cap figure for this season will be $4.4 million. In 2013, Abraham’s base salary raises to $3.25 million, and he’s scheduled to receive the exact same bonuses he’ll get this year. His 2013 cap figure is $6.16 million.
Brian McIntyre, Yahoo Sports: Re-signed to a three-year, $17.5 million contract on March 17 that included just $2.25 million in guaranteed money… Abraham is taking home $6 million this season, though $1.75 million ($500,000 of his $1.5 million base salary and $1.25 million of his $2.25 million signing bonus) was deferred to next March.
Brian McIntyre, Yahoo Sports: Abraham will see his 2013 base salary increase by $1 million after reaching playing-time and performance incentives in 2012, the first season of a three-year contract that had a base value of $17.5 million, but could have increased to as much as $21 million.

Len Pasquarelli, Atlanta Journal Constitition: the highest-paid rookie in franchise history in terms of signing bonus ($ 3.8 million) and first-year compensation ($ 4.35 million, including bonus)… Although there is a sixth season included, it will void if he participates in just 35 percent of Atlanta's defensive plays as a rookie or 45 percent in any season between 1999-2002. The structure, in essence, creates a five-year contract with a lofty per-year average of $1.585 million… If Brooking is voted to one Pro Bowl game during his first four years, his salary for 2002 will more than double, to $2.5 million. Multiple Pro Bowl appearances could push the 2002 salary to as high as $4 million. The base salaries anticipated to be listed in Brooking's contract are $550,000 (1998), $687,500 (1999), $825,000 (2000), $962,500 (2001), $1.1 million (2002) and $1.2375 million (2003, voidable).
