Vocab Attack!
Sometimes less is more. By focusing on key attack skills, teachers can open up their students’ critical thinking and language awareness. This session will explore a new way to confront vocabulary with quick daily vocab acquisition techniques. It will end with an alternative assessment for students.

Focus Activities
You will focus on your vocabulary word each day after the bell. Each day you will do a different exercise. You will be responsible for keeping up with each exercise. At the end of the week, they will be turned in.

Vocab Projects
Visual Representation: Each Friday, you turn in a visual representation of the vocab word. This will serve as an examination in your knowledge of the word. If that word could be illustrated, what would it look like? What colors might symbolize the word? What abstract shapes and patterns might work? Can I show this word in action? What images might represent this word? Try to show us what this word would look like.

Written Representation: Along with your art work, you will also turn in a written representation of your vocab word. You will do this through current events, international or local. Find an article in a newspaper that discusses something going on in the world today. You can use a real newspaper or a credible news site online. The article you choose must reflect the vocab word for that week. Attach your article to the back of your art work. Without this article, you will not receive full credit for your vocab project. (if your article is from the internet, it must be a credible source and you must cite your source)
