Best Buy requires two REF Segments* one with REF01=BM and one with REF01=CN. A 3rd REF segment is required for all Collect shipments, REF=CR. What is contained within each data element is contingent upon the mode of transportation:
- When the REF01=BM, the REF02 must contain the Bill of Lading number unless you are shipping via small parcel carrier then the Carrier Tracking Number is required.
Note: While the VICS Standard Bill of Lading is not currently mandatory , in the near future it will be required for all ASN’s (exception is small pkg.) Please build this functionality in your ASN. (For further details on the VICS BOL please visit http://www.vics.org/guidelines/bol/ )
- When the REF01=CN, the REF02 must contain:
for small parcel shipments
Note: A separate ASN must be sent for each tracking number
- The Carrier’s PRO number (including ALL alpha/numeric characters) for LTL Shipments
*If you are part of Best Buy’s Collect Program we require a 3rd REF Segment.
THIS INSTANCE OF THE REF SEGMENT IS ONLY REQUIRED FOR ALL COLLECT SHIPMENTS.
