As long as INSTAT does not publish quarterly data on net taxes and subsidies on products, economic growth cannot be analyzed in terms of gross domestic product. Value added data are still subject of further revisions. The figures for 2012 are semifinal, those for 2013 are preliminary and 2014 data are a flash estimates. 24 The activities included are “Trade, hotels and restaurants”, “Transport”, “Post and communication” and “Other services”. The positive performance in services during 2014 was driven by trade, health and other community, social and personal service activities. 25 The official data on Balance of Payment, Foreign International Reserves and External Debt are published in EURO. As required, in brackets we provide data in national currency. For BOP data the yearly average Euro/ALL exchange rate was used. 26 To calculate the figure of external debt in local currency the end of March exchange rate was used. For the foreign international reserves the end of June 2013 Euro/ALL exchange rate was used. [1][1] The index is computed as a ratio of wage and salaries index with the employees index, that are part of short term business statistics published by INSTAT. This index excludes the agriculture sector. [2][2] Methodological changes include the application of revised nomenclature of economic activities NACE Rev. 2, the rebasing and the referencing process. 27 Core inflation is calculated as a simple arithmetic average of two measurements: permanent exclusion of some items; and trimmed mean (30%). [1][1]NEER – Nominal Effective Exchange Rate is calculated based on ALL/USD and ALL/EUR exchange rate and accounts for Albania’s five main trading partners, namely Italy, Greece, Germany, Turkey and China. An increase in NEER implies the lek’s depreciation. 28 Here the level of banking sector credit towards resident and non-resident private sector (not included here credit to public sector). 29 Note that the repayment of arrears began in March and reached 33.8 billion ALL in end of year 2014 (2.4% of GDP). Expected repayments for 2015 are at around 20 billion ALL and for 2016 around 16.5 billion ALL (according to MOF web publications). [1], which measures the level of concentration in the banking system. Concentration indicators, as measured by the Herfindahl Index, for total assets, deposits and loans, provided evidence for a relatively high concentration in the banking system in terms of assets, deposits and (less for) loans. However, there seems to a slightly better distribution of shares in the market through time and, consequently an improved competitiveness. 30 The index ranges from 0 to 1.
