Janet S WebsterJanet Webster entered BBS in 1938. She graduated MA and MEd from St Andrews University and became the Senior Educational Psychologist with Devon County Council. Was Woman Athletics Champion at St Andrews and represented Scottish Uni versities in Athletics. Mary WeirMrs Mary Gregory entered BBS in 1931. She lived in St Andrews and had a career in Music. Robert WelchJoined Laird & Smiths; After a spell in Kelso, he is now a Director of Laird & Sinclair’s, Dundee; Fountain brae House, Monifieth. Married Nancy Thomson (qv). Attended BBS prior to 1930. Greive WemyssGreive Wemyss (1946) died in hospital on 22nd July 2006 after a long illness. After leaving School, Greive did National Service with the RAF. He then worked in Cupar for several years before moving to the East Neuk where he worked for about 30 years with the Prudential Assurance Company. He is survived by his wife, Aileen (née Yeaman), and two sons and a daughter. James WheatleyJames Wheatley entered first year in 1950 and graduated from St. Andrews University. It is believed he emigrated to Canada. Alison WhiteExtracted from FPA Newsletter, December 2012: A business woman who grew up in Auchtermuchty is flying the flag for north east Fife in a prestigious national list. Former Bell Baxter High School pupil Alison White (30) has been named in the annual '35 Women Under 35', which celebrates high-achieving young women in business across the UK. The list, compiled by the Management Today publication, has recognised Alison for her success in market research. Alison, who founded the Face Facts Research company in Leeds, spoke of her delight at making the list. She said: 'It's knowing the obstacles I faced getting here and the way I dealt with those situations that Management Today have included me on this list and I'm very proud to be representing Scottish businesswomen.' Alison trained as an opera singer before going into business as a teenager, setting up her first market research company at the age of 19. When that venture ended, Alison spent a few years working for other firms, gaining experience and making contacts, before striking out on her own again with Face Facts Research in 2010. Disaster hit the fledgling company when its offices were first broken into and then burned down. But Alison bounced back, relocating the very next day more determined than ever to succeed. She said: 'I was upset of course, but I knew that we could handle it. And the fact that six months down the line we've afforded this new building is testament to our resilience.' Face Facts Research, a quantitative field agency, now operates out of a four-storey office building and has doubled its staff numbers from six to 12 in the past three months. Alison attributes her success in part to growing up in a large family in north east Fife. She said: 'I will always look back fondly on my time growing up in Fife. 'Things weren't always easy — I had to deal with being the only girl among five brothers for one thing! But it certainly toughened me up. 'It was a far different life in Scotland, but one I will always remember with affection.' (Courtesy of Stuart Gillespie) Charlotte WhiteDr Charlotte Duff entered BBS in 1936. Charlotte graduated MB ChB from the University of St Andrews in 1946 and joined the Department of Public Health in 1948. After retiring from a career as a general practitioner, she became Medical Officer to Castle Huntly Young Offenders' Institution. Lesley WhiteLesley White (1958) died on 22nd January 2001 in Ninewells Hospital, after a short but distressing illness. Lesley went to Aberdeen Art College on leaving School and qualified as an Art Teacher. She taught in Lancashire at Walshaw High School, Burnley, for 25 years, becoming Head of the Art Department. She took early retirement in 1997 and, with a friend, set up a pottery business. She had come north to look after her mother, who is very ill, when she herself fell suddenly seriously ill. Lesley was unmarried. Kirsty WhitenKirsty Whiten of Craigrothie (1989), who completed a BA in Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art in 1999, has won the Miller Homes Paris Studio Art Competition, which offers her the opportunity to live and work in Paris for nine months. The total package is worth £22,000. Kirsty began her studies at Dundee College of Further Education, working on a one year portfolio course. She then went to Edinburgh, and during her third year she won the college photography prize and has had two small exhibitions of her work at the Assembly Rooms and Collective Gallery in Edinburgh. Kenneth Whitson Kenneth Whitson (1966-68) died during the summer of 2009 after a long time of poor health. On leaving School, Kenneth joined the staff of RBS. Following promotion he spent some years in Orkney. He then decided on a career change, and his new job involved installing computers in pharmacies. Some 16 years ago he was involved in a very serious accident as a result of which he suffered from very poor health, never making a full recovery. He is survived by a son and two daughters.
David played for the club in his youth, gained 13 caps for Scotland, playing on the wing during his stint with Edinburgh Wanderers. David often played for Bell Baxter school in the morning and turned up later on in the afternoon hoping for a game with the Club. An indication of David’s loyalty to the Club is shown by him playing sevens for Howe on Saturday before flying off to Paris to gain his first British Athletics vest at Colombes Stadium, Paris on Sunday! He later played rugby for Scotland in the same stadium.
