Debra Chandler is a retired Florida attorney who practiced criminal law in Palm Beach County for twenty five years as an Assistant Public Defender. She practiced in all divisions of the office, including intake, trials and appeals as well as the Juvenile Division. She represented the Public Defender on a number of boards and committees. She also taught criminal and constitutional law at Florida Atlantic University as an adjunct professor for more that ten years. She is a native of Palm Beach County and a product of the public school system. Her undergraduate degree is from Florida Atlantic University with honors and her law degree is from Florida State University. She proudly serves on the board of directors of the League of Women Voters, Palm Beach Bons Vivants, and Palm Beach Gardens Historical Society, and is a member of the Exchangettes of Northern Palm Beach County, and the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. She is a widow with one daughter, an elementary school teacher in Palm Beach County, and two grandchildren. Nancy Cohen is co-chair of the Voting Rights Coalition and our League’s strategic planner. A former information systems executive, she is an active gardener and has a begonia named for her. She lives quietly in Palm Beach Gardens with her husband Peter.
