Winds start later today thru tomorrow, then another front. Take advantage of the winds between the fronts. Soon enough they will be paying off. by inshoreguy » Wed Mar 03, 2010 4:48 pm Just wanted to give all you nice Broward pompano fisherman something to look forward to since you havent seen a pompano in several weeks or even several months for some of you. We have been fishing at least three times a week, every week for the past month and a half up north of Jupiter and the pompano fishing has been and still is very solid. Fished the beach again this morning and on the one section of beach I fished on, 9 out of the 12 guys fishing there, limited out within an hour to two. I even watched one guy jigging limit out in about 30 minutes. Most days bait is working well (shrimp, sand fleas, clams) and jigs are also working well. Some days all you need to do is jig for your limit. Hopefully alot of those fish will start moving south soon or you can take a ride up and enjoy some fresh pompano dinner very soon. Met up with him, Rebel and another guy about 8pm. Conditions were good at first but in about an hour the wind really kicked up and we called it quits. They caught one small snook, lost another and I caught a ray which, I think it was Rebel helped me get unwrapped from the pilings. Nice to meet you guys, thanks for the info........next time. Also caught 4 good size croakers around 15-17in each. thought I had a pomp on and when I went to flip it, I realized it was a small jack. Anyway I caught all the fish on shrimp with my new plasma 8-15lb that I got for $80 this past thursday.

I caught a puffer (on the chicken rig)...that was it for me lol I saw several sand perch come over the rail early, one BIG sand perch. Some Gog's, 1/2 dozen, maybe 8 & the guy was working them hard too, far and few in between. A few hoos to those fishing for them. I was right next to the middle hut on the east side of it, pretty much everybody was at the middle hut or west of it. Nobody at the T at first, a couple guys moved down there around 7:30 or so but it didn't look like they were doing any better. They might be just starting to run, but what I hear from the locals the best is still to come in the upcoming weeks. I was told "they are getting pompano, bluefish and macs. I got in my van, picked up 3 fishing friends 'who left work early, based on the same report they got when they called". We spent 28 dollars to get on the pier, 6 bucks for a bag of frozen fleas, only to find out the the poms, blues and macs were caught at 7 - 9am in the morning. Whe gave up at 6pm without a bite on fleas, cut bait and artificials. Why is it so hard to give an accurate fishing report to hard-working people. Does the pier need the money that bad that they tell the guys to lie, just to get their new patio built. How about putting in a wheechair accessible bathroom. Do the owners of the pier know they are breaking a FEDERAL LAW?

I was trying my dads way of fishing (cast, put the rod done and wait)and caught one snook like that(one in the pic).The second one my friend(Mr. ARTI aka Homie)had hooked one their and he had called me down and brought my shrimp and hooked up in 5 min. The local pomp fisherman were their but between all maybe 10 were caught. About a week or so they caught a couple of pomps but haven't been out since then. Had a blast catching blues on 10lbs test for the most part of the day, if you love fishing light tackle and lures you can't ask for more by WetWillie » Tue Mar 23, 2010 6:57 pm Fished from about 9 a.m. till almost 2 p.m. Wind was out of the southwest, gusting to about 15 to 18. That made the water lay down from the past few days and it cleared up considerably. The whole time, I saw nothing come over the rail, except one houndie I managed on a float and strip. And that was just to have something to do. Zero mac activity and pomp activity. Don't know if they got any blues at night. Met IndianaBrandon who's down here on vaca and he was messin' with some small cudas. He got their attention, had one hit and chew his artificial, but he got spit. He's got about four more days to keep at it, till it's time to head back to the cold country. Good luck, dude! There were hoos all over the south side, from the Tee, almost to the beach, but they weren't interested in anything I threw at them. Real skitterish. Gonna wait a few days before I try it again. Croakers, Spinners, Blues Won't see another good wind until later in the week by Boruchlen » Mon Mar 29, 2010 1:21 pm Went out this morning from 0515-0930. Fished from just west of the hut. There were a few pomps coming up sporadically until 0730, when the bite seemed to take off. I had no bites at all until 0745. Caught my first pomp (for the day) @ 0745, and by 0930 I was packing up to go with my limit. There were a fair number of people that limited out by then also, but most stayed fishing. I had to head back to work. The wind was VERY strong mostly S, abit SSE until 0900 when it died down. Started raining @ around 0645 didn't stop the whole time I was there. Came down in a deluge for a good part of the time. I went home squeaking everywhere. Soaked from head to foot. And that's with a Froggy rain jacket on. Went right through. Saw a couple of blues come up, 1 croaker and the rest were pomps. 2 pomps @ 14 1/2" 2 pomps @ 14" (all 4 nice fatties) and 2 @ 12.5"" That's it all. Have a great day. My only complaints were the fact that there were ALOT of people using 2 pompano rods + they were also jigging while there rods were in the water, and I spent almost an hour trying to get my line untangled from the guys who decided my spot was the "perfect" pomp spot and sat their rods up right on top of mine (they were also fishing 2 rods and spent all their time fishing the other rod while I was untangling their mess from my line   ).
My only consolation (other than the 6 pomps  ) was that the weather made sure only the hard core fishermen were out there. If we would have had the usual googan pomp parade, there would have been mayhem.

Yesterday was slow. A few Macks and 1 Pomp. Night time has been getting more Bluefish than there has been lately. Plenty of bait.
