Hit Anglins this morning and the phrase a day late and a dollar short was apt. Saw a few bluefish come in most on cut baits, a lot of small throwback pompano, some small ladyfish, a ton of 1 -2 lb jacks and a lot of huge lookdowns and moonfish. Saw a throw back kingfish and had some nice Spainish chasing lures but no takers. A good amount of mullet around just nothing busting them and around 9 when the tide started moving the mullet ran south. XTHELINE nailed a nice 20 inch mutton but not much else going on. Nice chatting with the rats and Wimberly but other than that slow day of catching.

Bluefish around yesterday with some Jacks, and some smaller size Macks. Plenty of pilchards out near the end, and another school inshore which nobody seemed to notice but me.
by mackadaysmoker » Sat Oct 24, 2009 6:19 pm Dania
was there today from 7-3pm with my girlfriend. we limited on macks and got 1 bluefish...tons of jacks in the am and the macks were solid between like 8-10.
by jbuck501 » Sat Oct 24, 2009 8:17 pm Dania
Today 7:15am till 3:00pm. Clouds of pilchards from the beach to half way out till about 8:30. Jacks came in, no more bait. For those that had bait, large macks till about 11:00am. After that it was small macks and more blue runners and jacks then you can imagine. came home with about 25 SP macks. Most were 14". White or yellow crappie jigs seeemed to work the best.

Didn't have time to search around today. Been some at times in general. Had a bunch of mullet inshore during the night while I was there for a bit.
Today, Macks and more Macks. Evening bite lit up. Not large ones, but plenty of them. Heard the biggies were the AM and one close to 8lbs. Plenty of bait close in, in the late afternoon and a bunch of psycho Crevelles.

Was out there from 8-3 today. There were a few undersize mutton caught on spanish mackerel strips. But just like yesterday the macks were on fire, most were around the 13" mark but still fun none the less. As I was leaving one of the kids there hooked up to a King at the middle hut on a live mullet but it ended up cutting him off. Not too bad of a day

been there today from 8- 1030am water is clear, no action what so ever,no bait also, one guy catching muttons on cut ballyhoo, but mostly undersize, few sp macks like 12-14" on a white crappie jig... nice weather though.

pier was crowded last night, had too push in on some people to make room for me and my g/f.
as far as the fishing, well...i brought fresh speedo, jacks. Had one run which did not amount to anything. and another while free lining out a strip.
Maybe next time ill try my luck with mullet.
Hows the mack bite in the morning? i am thinking of swinging by early before work and throwing some lures out.

Friday afternoon fishing update.
As of 11am - 1pm. No fish and no bait.
Super low tide and semi-clear water. Light winds with a small chop.
As I arrived, one guy was cleaning a bucket full of jacks, they must have been caught earlier.
Everyone else was soaking line and squid with no luck.
I threw a few arti's but nothing was around. Even the creek was dead.
I'm keeping my wristband on and trying the high tide later this evening.
Maybe if the water fills in it'll get better as the temps drop some.

I havin't beeen fishing for over a month so decided to go wednesday. I picked up my kids and drove out to the pier. When we got there not much was happening. There weren't even too many people there. Started fishing and an assortment of fish started coming over the rail. We ended up with a 18 inch bar jack, 15 inch yellow jack, 3 legal mangrove snappers, 3 undersize yellowtails,2 moonies, 1 small spanish jack, a nice jack crevalle, a bunch of blue runners and of course a number of needlefish. We caught enough for dinner and enough to keep the boys entertained. Great day with my boys.

Finally back near a computer. Trip from Friday 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. First light there were tons of 1 -2 lb jacks from surf to tee. Any lure or bait casted out anywhere on the pier til around 9 a.m. meant a jack followed by about 20 -60 more. Topwaters were a blast for the first couple then the realization set in that nothing else would get a chance at the lures with the jacks around. A small school of a few dozen large bluefish showed up around 8 a.m. , hooked one on a jig and busted it off trying to flip it on 6 lb mono would have been about a solid 4 - 5 lb blue. Saw a few smaller mackeral coming up all 12 - 16 inches with a few larger ones flashing here and there. The mackeral were very inactive and struck more out of curiosity that hunger. I saw two keeper pompano come up one on jig one on bait . Saw Wimbery catch a nice mackeral on live bait and decided to do the same landed about a 4 lb Spainish after having either a huge Spainish or nice kingfish chase a bait back as I was reeling it in to replace it with a fresh bait.
The fish of the day went to a guy that was using a spinning rod with a small red Abu Garcia bait caster on it with 17 lb test. He was hooked up and walking the pier fighting the fish. Asked him what he had on and he said a big hammerhead shark. He said he had it straight up and down and had seen it before it took off again. Watched him fight it for about 20 minutes and he got it straight up and down and sure enough about a 6 - 8 ft hammerhead surfaced under the pier before taking off again. The hook simply pulled after about 10 more minutes. I was stunned that a hammerhead that big was almost beaten on a bass reel with 100 yards of 17 lb mono and 40 lb leader.

Fished this morning 6am till 8am.....water going north, not the color I was expecting, but not clear either, ne wind around 15. Caught 4 nice Macks; one at 23inches, and 2 nice Blues....with several cut offs inbetween. Saw 2 schools of mullet, thats where the blues were and a couple big poons ran through them as I was getting ready to leave sending mullett everywhere....it was pretty cool to watch. No pomps while I was thr, my guess is they will show once the current turns South? Will edit pics when I get home

Word is the current is smoking
Making it hard for the fish to stay in one spot at a time.
I think it's safe to say we need more East in our winds and less North.
Still makes for decent waves 60 days out of the year.
Didn't see much bait in the water compared to last weekend, I think they've scattered some.

got bak from fishing fished from 1:45-5:30
got there noticed mackeral flashing in the water and everyones was catching them ,they were nice sized !!
my friend told me got there kinda late, so i tye my leader clip on a yo-zuri 2 casts then bamm mack!! the first was around 3lbs not to big!
Bite slowed down and the jacks where hitting so kept on casting the yo-zuri got a couple then the mack came back!
cast bam another mack this one being a bit bigger!! around 4lber. people were mostly catching them on live baits but not me !! also many were caught on bottom rigs!
then I cast and suprisingly i caught a small king 23in released swam away perfetcly!
switched to live bait(at the begining they were everywhere) for a little bit caught 2 4lb jack and kept on getting cut by mackeral even on my damn long shank!
got tired of it bring the yozuri out again! bamm big mack this one being around 4lbs and 14oz.
switch back to live bait but now they moved to where i was fishing around the middle and the bite slowed down big time. Got cut around 12 times today.
also there were some bluefish being caught in the 2-3lb range and 1 big 4lb ladyfish!!
saw something rly strange today a mutton caught on a pomp rig wit a sand flea never seen that before!
overall it was a goood day of fishing!
Rod: xps bass pro 7'0
Reel: Shimano Sahara 4000
Line: 10lb test
Leader: none wit lure but freeling 30 lb leader!

Wed 12/16 AM report. Did not expect much action, just felt good to watch the sunrise and smell the ocean air.. No bait, slow south current. One guy who I swear lives out there had some pilchards he brought up from Haulover. Around 9:30 he came tight on the only hit I saw and landed a nice 6lb Spanish on the trolly. Nice old guy brought chum and the ballyhoo showed up, but did not matter, nothing was chewing on them. Nice AM and nicer to have the day off from work..... Left at 9:45. tight lines ......

Headed out today with 2 of my friends to try our luck on shrimp with trollrites for snook. When we got there around 4pm it was low tide but there was a solid snook bite (while it lasted). We wound up catching 6 snook in like 40 minutes (all undersize fish), and then didnt land another fish for the rest of the time we were out there, even though we had a few more classic snook thumps. My friend Brendon broke in his new gloomis green water/sustain that he got for christmas. He was lucky to have the first fish he caught on it be a snook!

fished yesterday from 3am to 1pm, slow to say the least..got a couple of just short ytails on the south side reef just before the T and reeled in about 35-40 good size needlefish (kept one for strip bait and released ALL the others before someone asks ), at least it was fun on 8lbs test. All you can catch hoos and gogs, wind shifted from south to west and then from west to north and started cooling and building in. I haven't seen one decent fish caught all over the pier, hopefully this front will move up things a lil bit otherwise it's kind of depressing...
by malibuminix » Wed Feb 03, 2010 10:24 pm Dania
I was at the pier this afternoon.More ballyhoo then you ever need, more birds then you can ever feed and that's it.One octopus was caught by some one and a few kid's anchored 15 feet away from the T.They couldn't start the boat and Sea Tow came and picked them up.Took them like 45 minutes. And a military cargo plane flew by the T about 150 feet above us.That was pretty cool.

Went out this morning from 06:00 - 08:30. Met up with crash, mmcauliffe and fishnfool. Good to meet you Pat and Mike, nice to see you again Chris. The wind was quite strong (I think it was coming out of the north east and around 15mph, but i could be wrong).
The water was fairly dirty, and plenty of gogs and hoos to be seen, but nothing biting. I left without a bite @ 08:30, having been skunked my first time back at Anglins in over 2 months. Sucks. But, that's why they call it fishing and not catching.
As i was leaving Choi caught a nice bonita.
In all, that was it, till next time.
by rshields » Fri Feb 05, 2010 9:53 pm
Out today from 11Am through 5PM. Allot of bait hoos running from the snook.Winds hard from the South east with rain and sun and more rain. Partner landed a nice 9-10lb jack on the bottom with a hoo, a few MACS caught and I caught four birds. two on a bottom rig where they ran into my line and two free lining. All were released unharmed and without any hooks or weights attached but sometimes would just like to bleed them and see how they are in a smoker.
by rshields » Sat Feb 06, 2010 10:57 am
Threw a doc's jig for awhile to see if any pomps were passing through and no takers.
Nobody I saw was targeting pompano.

Well, I managed to drag mu butt out of bead early enough to make it to Anglins (4:15am) for the shuttle launch but they canceled due to low clouds over the Cape.
I fished from 4:30am - 8:45am, not much going on, pretty dead. I was jigging for Gog's, ended up with one good size Moonfish and a smaller one. Kept the bigger one for dinner, never ate one, figured I'd give it a try tonight.
Only other thing I saw caught was some bait fish (Pin, Hoos, etc.) but even those were far and few in between. No Gogs caught that I saw.

Went down to the pier today when i got out of school, Fished from about 5pm to 8:45pm with shrimp. Couldnt land one for the first 3 hrs i was there if my life depended on it. Around 8pm it started to rain and as soon as it did the wind let up a little, and the fish turned on. I then went 2/3 on snook in about 30 mins while my friends were hiding from the rain. The one I lost was the biggest and I got one short, and one that might have been bottom slot. I am heading back out tommarow so ill post another report on what I get. Heres the pics.

In regards to the 17.00 fishing charge. Use the free parking lot and save 10.00. It's located behind the gas station. You will see a Burger King across from the free lot.

Macks most days, but not all days.
Plenty of Snook around at night to play with, and some Pompano here and there with the right conditions. We are at the fringes of the beginning.

Some Macks around yesterday. Not much at night while I was there, and not much people trying.
Had my first victim yesterday. Didn't believe , nor listen, when I said no more trebles, and proceeded to ignore me and put it out in front of me. He gets a vacation.

Fished from about 6:30 until 12:30. Weather wise it was the best day in a long time. No wind and warm. Unfortunately no fish either. Fished with a guy from Aces B/T and his son. We didn't catch much but the little guy was fun. You could tell this guy was a great dad. Just wish I could remember his name.

Fished the T today from 5 a.m to 1 p.m. Water was so clear my friend could see his VS drag knob that he dropped almost four months ago at the bottom off the SE corner of the T. Very calm water as well, and the hoos that were there a week ago by the hundreds have gone away by the most part and getting a just a couple of them was so much harder than usual. Only one good size Porgy was caught on bottom rig. Hopefully the weather will change a little make fishing conditions better.

Couple Macks yesterday. Hoos solid at the T. North side down the pier to the surf, big Greenies all the way down. Last night, a few Bluefish that I seen.
Today is the Dania Festival. Lot will be packed, so better get there early if anyone needs to park to go fishing.
