Carteret Community Learns About "Ports and Pilots"

The NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort is sponsoring a program called "Ports and Pilots", an educational program for interested members of the community to be able to learn more about the role of ports and the instrumental part our pilots play in the safe operation of ports. The Port of Morehead City participated in the program several years ago. The new Curator of Education for North Carolina Maritime Museums LeeAnne Gordon, recently began the program again with the support of the port. The first program ran in October with nine participants from the local community. The participants received an education program at the museum and were then led on a guided tour of the port by Charles Thomas, NC State Ports Authority. The museum will offer the program again on November 6. Interested participants can register through the museum.
