F. Delegation. Exodus 18:21,22.
A leader must be able to delegate. As you lead, you multiply your efforts by getting others to work toward common goals. When responsibility fora task is delegated, the authority to carryout that task must also be delegated. So you must be willing to support the decisions made by subordinates, and when a subordinate makes a poor decision, you should gently restore him, helping him to avoid similar mistakes in the future. You share the responsibility for mistakes made by a subordinate—because you chose to delegate the task to that person. The Bible gives examples of delegation to relieve the burden on leaders. Jethro, the father-in- law of Moses, advised Moses to delegate responsibility by appointing trustworthy leaders over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens (Exodus 18:21). He advised Moses to retain responsibility in judging difficult cases, but to delegate the simple cases to others. See Exodus
18:21,22. When Jesus ascended to heaven, he left the work of the church to a group of believers. From that small beginning, the workers in the church are multiplying all around the world.
