J. Courage. Joshua 15:13,14; Numbers 14:3-9. A leader, especially a leader in a hostile land, needs courage. Consider two leaders who had courage. --Caleb was one of the spies sent to inspect the land of Canaan and report back to the Israelites. Of all the spies that went into Canaan, only Caleb and Joshuahad the courage to advise the Israelites to enter the promised land and fight the inhabitants. The others were afraid of the giants—children of Anak—living in the land. So God did not allow the adults of that generation that grumbled against God to enter the land promised by the Lord (Numbers 14:29,30). After forty years in the desert with the Israelites, Caleb reentered the land. He was given Hebron--the city still inhabited by the giants (sons of Anak). Caleb drove them out. See Joshua 15:13,14. Where did Caleb and Joshua get their courage From trusting the Lord. They told the Israelites that they would overcome the Canaanites because the Lord was with the Israelites. See Numbers 14:3-9. God called Caleb to the land of Canaan, and God overcame the giants blocking Caleb’s pathway. There will likely be giants blocking the path that God calls you to take. The giants maybe authorities in a hostile land. The giants maybe language barriers. The giants maybe a need for theological training. Giants are those obstacles that are too great for us to
