    Research focus:

My research efforts focus on access to care, linkage to care and barriers to care among HIV-infected hard to reach populations in the United States. I also do research on treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS as well as adherence and the impact of therapy on behavior. Finally, I am interested in the spectrum and impact of AIDS in developing countries and issues related to access to care in resource poor settings.

    Clinical Service Contributions:

    • The development of the “HIV continuum of care team” which has as its major goals to link clinical services between the hospital and the outpatient clinic. This has decreased length of hospital stay for HIV-infected patients at Grady and has improved follow-up in the outpatient clinic.

    • As Chief of the Medical Service at Grady Memorial Hospital I reorganized the service to provide more efficient and high quality care to the patients. I have also championed the implementation of clinical pathways to decrease length of stay, establish a department Quality Committee and improved billing and collections.
