Pre-Placement Training for Newly Hired Engineering Graduates


The interviewees describe various types of training provided to new graduates before they are placed on the job in the mechanical engineering industry. Interviewee 1 states that they expect graduates to be familiar with basic tools, and their training covers using digital multimeters, micrometers, and vernier callipers. The training also includes basic computer programs, internet research for emerging engineering information, and basic software tools for the design and operation of vehicle diagnostic machines. The training is conducted before moving graduates to electronic, maintenance, and other sections.
Interviewee 2 (EI2) describes a comprehensive education program called the Nissan Service Technician Education Program (NSTEP), which progresses through three levels: NSTEP 1 covers all aspects of vehicle systems; NSTEP 2, which is divided into engine, chassis, and electricals, delves into more advanced topics; and NSTEP 3, also known as Difficult to Repair Problems (DRP), focuses on the engine and chassis.
