3.6.2.2 Interviewing procedures for research study validityThroughout the study process, qualitative validity procedures verify and revise the veracity of the research findings (Creswell et al., 2020). The reliability, validity, and veracity of the semi-structured interview questions were evaluated to ensure their qualitative validity (C. Creswell et al., 2020). Editing for accuracy, analysing themes and descriptions, coding data, validating all data transcripts, and organizing data for analysis are further examples of qualitative validation (Creswell et al., 2020:Creswell, 2014). Through a pilot study, we were able to make sure that our interviews were reliable in terms of quality (Creswell et al., 2020). A successful pilot test was done with two people, which is 17% of the total number of people who could have been interviewed. A validation check was conducted during the pilot test with two colleagues who examined the interview questions and another colleague who also examined the dataset and its structure. The researcher first showed the interview question, sub-questions, and question probes to two colleagues from the survey pilot test who were familiar with bridging the digital skills gap with disruptive technologies in mechanical engineering training to ensure the highest level of trustworthiness. Colleagues decided if the interview questions were right for the meeting's purpose or not. Then, we had a third co-worker, who had done research interviews before, look over our questions, probes, and sub-questions to make sure they were not biased or unclear and were sensitive to different cultures and genders. 3.6.2.3. Gathering and capturing interview dataSecurity measures were put in place to make sure that the system would continue to work. In case there were problems with the technology, we took written notes of our interviews (J. W. Creswell, 2014). People were given pseudonyms that could be used in transcriptions and the researcher's notes. Zoom Platform, a program for capturing video, was used to make "camrec" files of the interviews. The "camrec" files that were used for the transcripts were changed to VLC player files. This was done as a safety measure to make sure that the recordings had never been messed up by transmission problems or the researcher's mistakes. The interview data was saved on a portable storage device made by Dell. The researcher took notes on all of the interviews and put them in the notebook. In three sessions, information consistency was brought up. Communication with the participant in Round 1 was another way to make sure everything was right and clear. Before any other interviews were done, the first interview (Inter-1) was transcribed right away using the playback feature of the Zoom platform and sent to the participant for review. The first interviewee (Inter-1) looked over the transcript and gave feedback through email. The researcher proofread the interview transcript and took note of the participant's suggestions for fixing mistakes. The second round started with the next five interviews. As soon as the interview was over, the researcher listened to the audio recordings of the conversation and took notes to add to the notes she had taken during the interview. After the interview was over, everyone put in a lot of effort to get started on the transcription process within a couple of hours. While he was transcribing, the researcher wrote down his thoughts and feelings, as well as themes that kept coming up and links to other works of literature. Once the interviews were transcribed, the researcher put all of the transcripts into a single electronic document. The researcher looked at the gathered information to find patterns, new ideas, and early conclusions. It took between two and four hours to transcribe each of interviews two through five.
