| 4.9 Interfaces (1) This section is specifically associated with the interface to supervisory systems (SCADA and HMI systems, such systems themselves are not in the scope of this Project however, the software modules developed as part of this library will have all the necessary interfaces and connection points needed to interface with such systems (see § 4.2.1). 4.9.1 Common approach to supervisory systems (1) Consideration will be given to the interface mechanisms needed to graphically display status information for devices and instruments, this will include status indication (i.e. is a valve opened or closed, messages (alarms and warnings c, operating modes (e.g. auto or manual c) and any other information that is required. Doc PS Rev R 63-71 (2) Consideration will be given to how information is conveyed from supervisory system to the modules (e.g. commands from the operator. (3) The software modules will adopt a common approach to the structuring of these interfaces, this will clearly identify the common areas of such interfaces, naming conventions will be established to delineate the various sections, this will include, but not be limited to • Status indication showing the current state of the device • Active modes, identifying which modes are currently active • Messages alarms, warnings, events, prompts • Configuration data (physical settings, ranges, time functions c) • Modes of operation 4.9.2 Status indication (1) Consideration shall be given to how the status of devices is to be displayed on a supervisory system, the design specification for each module shall give details of how its various states are to be displayed.
