A particularly important challenge is that of achieving a balance between the profitability needed to maintain agricultural productivity and life in rural areas and the protection of the environment. Special attention should be paid to EU trade policy with third countries in order to prevent the signing of trade agreements from undermining the European model of family farming and thus safeguarding the European agri-food model, which remains in the vanguard of food safety and quality standards.
