1. It is essential that this new governance model "leave no one behind": this means ensuring that all Member States can achieve optimal implementation of the SUD despite their differing starting points.

2. One key element relates to training in plant protection products and increasing people's knowledge. This will mean:

• 
  having a more comprehensive and affordable training system, for the benefit not only of farmers but also of the farmworkers and of the assessors themselves, who must ensure that they receive regular training due to the complexity of the subject in question;
  
• 
  making training in the use and purchase of pesticides mandatory and effective in all Member States;
  
• 
  increasing private and public funding for training and supporting collaboration between the two sectors, especially on issues related to research and innovation in plant protection products; and
  
• 
  strengthening the role of advisory services in promoting best plant protection practices. In Spain, for example, the number of farms being advised on integrated production systems has grown from 230 000 to 304 000 in the last seven years, representing an increase from two and a half million to thirteen million hectares.
