TD Note
Development of a Cone Truncated in two places
Procedure: Same as above

Development of Cylinders
Procedure:

  1. Draw the given views

  2. Find the circumference using 2R

  3. Project Horizontal lines equal to the circumference of the circle from the elevation

  4. Divide into a number of equal parts to get the fold lines.

To draw the development of a truncated cylinder
Procedure:

  1. Draw the orthographic view given

  2. Divide the plan into a number of parts

  3. Project vertical lines from the divisions on the plan to the elevation.

  4. Project horizontal lines from all points on the elevation.

  5. Make the projected line be equal to the circumference of the cylinder and divide into the same number of equal parts as the circle.

  6. Join the points of intersection of the projected horizontal lines with their corresponding vertical lines on the circumference divided to get the development.

DEVELOPMENT OF PRISMS
Square Prism
In this case the orthographic views or the pictorial view would be given:
Procedure:

  1. Draw the elevation and plan of the prism

  2. Project horizontal lines from the elevation

  3. Let the length of the projected lines be equal to the perimeter of the prism.

  4. Divide into the number of parts equal to the sides

  5. Add the fold lines and at the top and the base.

Hexagonal Prism
Procedure:

  1. Draw the elevation and plan of the hexagonal prism

  2. Project horizontal lines form the elevation

  3. Let the length of the projected lines be equal to the perimeter of the hexagonal prism

  4. Divide into the number of parts equal to the sides i.e. 6 equal sides

  5. Add the fold lines and at the top and the base.
