WEEK TWO
Date: Monday 11th – 15th September; 2023.
Class: SSS 2
Subject: TECHNICAL DRAWING
Topic: LOCI
Sub-topic: Diagonal Method of Constructing Isometric Circle
Duration: 120 minutes
Learning Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Construct isometric circle using the approximate circle or American method

  2. Apply the method to real life drawing

Reference books:

  1. New Element of Technical Drawing by Osuji, U.S.A and Akano, E.O.

  2. Technical drawing by J.N. Green.

Previous Knowledge: Students are familiar with the construction of isometric circle using the approximate circle method.
Instructional Materials: Web resources, Textbooks, Drawing instruments and equipment

Lesson Topic: Isometric Circle cont’d

Content:

  • Diagonal Method of Constructing Isometric Circle

Period: 1, 2& 3
Opening

The diagonal method
Procedure:

  1. Draw the square ABCD and inscribe the given circle in it.

  2. Draw the isometric square ABCD

  3. Draw the diagonals in the squares.

  4. Draw the horizontal and vertical centre lines in the two.

  5. Draw vertical lines A1-D1, B1-C1 at the points of intersection of the circle and diagonals.

  6. Draw horizontal lines A1-B1, D1-C1 at the points of intersection of the circle and diagonals.

  7. Draw the small squares A1 at D, B1 at C, C1 at B, and D1 at A as shown

  8. Transfer all the lines to the isometric square.

  9. Transfer the circle with a smooth curve.
