POLICY



Any acts of alleged misconduct will be referred to the Radiation Oncology Physics Residency Program Committee (ROPRPC) for review.


PROCEDURE





  1. The Radiation Oncology Physics Residency Program prohibits resident misconduct which includes, but is not limited to:




    1. obtaining or providing, without authorization, questions or answers relating to any examination or test prior to the time of the examination or test,




    1. obtaining or providing, without authorization, resident test scores, evaluation results, or any confidential information not provided directly to the student,




    1. plagiarizing, that is appropriating the work of another, in part or whole, and passing off this work as the product of one's own mind or manual skill,




    1. continued excuses to not avail themselves to fully participate in scheduled rosters and/or educational activities, and




    1. inappropriate professional conduct that would violate the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) professional Code of Ethics.




  1. The ROPRPC may impose disciplinary sanctions up to and including the termination of a resident from the program or may impose any conditions which must be met in order for the resident to continue in the program.

POLICY



If the resident has not been successful in completing the requirements as stated during the Performance Counselling process or has otherwise failed to meet other program requirements as outlined in this Policy, the Radiation Oncology Physics Residency Program Committee (ROPRPC) will review the resident’s file.


PROCEDURE





  1. Normally, where three separate Performance Counselling meetings have been initiated, any additional occurrences requiring further intervention will be sufficient cause to recommend the resident’s position be terminated. This shall not, however, prevent the earlier termination of a resident from the program where considered appropriate by the ROPRPC.




  1. The ROPRPC shall meet with the resident regarding the resident’s performance or conduct.




  1. After meeting, the ROPRPC will determine if the resident is to be dismissed from the Program. Following the meeting, a letter will be given to the resident outlining the decision of the ROPRPC




  1. If the resident is not dismissed, the ROPRPC shall outline any conditions which need to be met by the resident in order for the resident to continue in the Program. The resident and the Program Director will sign the letter which signifies that the resident has been informed of his/her status.

POLICY



The resident has the right to appeal a dismissal decision made by the Radiation Oncology Physics Residency Program Committee (ROPRPC). An appeal may be made only on the basis that there has been a miscarriage of justice in the case of the appellant (resident).
