SGGW Degree ProgrammeThe course takes five and half years (11 semesters). Graduates are awarded the EU scheduled qualification [Dyplom lekarza weterynarii/Diploma of Veterinary Surgeon]. According to EU regulations, it enables graduates to practise legally in the European Community member countries. This program is taught exclusively in English. From start to finish, SGGW gives graduates the necessary experience to enter the veterinary profession with confidence. Five & a half year (VS) Degree ProgrammeThe five & half-year VS degree program at SGGW consists of 75 total obligatory courses and electives held in Warsaw, Poland, over five & half academic years. Each academic year starts in October, and finishes in June. The VS diploma is received after successfully passing all exams. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, with substantial winter and summer breaks. The program is rigorous, with students taking roughly 860 hrs of classes (60 ECTS) per year (the total minimum number of teaching hours is 5100, and the total minimum ECTS number is 330). A brief overview is as follows: THE EXAMINATION SYSTEMThere are 3 examination sessions: winter session at the end of January/ beginning of February; summer session in June; and format autumn session in September just before the new academic year. Various forms of examination; oral; written (multiple-choice or “Open” questions) tests; practical tests; and clinical examination is always a part of an exam in the case of clinical subjects. Two terms of an exam are allowed, plus one additional retake evaluated by the commission. All exams should be passed before the beginning of the following semester. Students have to pass exams before they can start the following semester. This applies for e.g., anatomy, histology and embryology, physiology and pathophysiology. Entry Requirements for the five and a half year program at SGGW: Complete high-school diploma – final school leaving exam certificate (e.g. A levels) Entrance exam (see details below) In most cases, applicants with a BSc in Life Sciences will be exempt from the entrance exam. Exemption from certain subjects can be attained with certificate/proof of credits from previous degree.
