Arrival at Warsaw

By aeroplane

Frederic Chopin (Okęcie) International Airport (Terminal CHOPIN I and II) is served by the Polish national airline, LOT Polish Airlines (www.lot.com), and many other national/international airlines. Okęcie airport is situated in the city about 8 km far from the SGGW campus. SGGW has direct connection with airport by bus line 148 – tickets (bilet normalny: 3.60 PLN = 0.80 ) must be bought prior to boarding. The taxi fee to the SGGW campus is approximately 46 PLN (11).

Low cost airlines such as WizzAir (www.wizzair.com) and Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) also fly to Warsaw Modlin Airport. However, we discourage using MODLIN Airport as this airport is around 60 km away from our campus, and there are no direct transport links to the southern part of Warsaw, Ursynów, where the SGGW campus is.

If you fly into Modlin, transport options from there include: taxi (campus expect to pay 60 EUR for Modlin-SGGW tour); train (take shuttle-bus from Modlin Airport to Modlin train station and then train “Pociągi Kolei Mazowieckich” relation Modlin to Warszawa Centralna or Warszawa Gdańska – all tour takes approx. 45 min, cost ca. 12,50 PLN, http://www.mazowieckie.com.pl/en/); or bus (Modlin Bus: www.modlinbus.pl to Centrum - Warszawa downtown, cost ca. 33 PLN). From Warszawa downtown bus/metro links to Ursynów can be used.

By train and bus

Both trains and buses arrive at Warsaw Centralna (Main Station). For long-haul information, see Eurolines for bus (www.eurolines.com) and the Polish National Railway (PKP) for train information (http://rozklad.pkp.pl/bin/query.exe/en). Once at the station there is a good network of public transport available. A one-journey ticket costs 3,60 PLN (0.80), which you can buy at any small tobacco shop or ticket machine. This ticket is valid for one journey; to change buses, you will need to buy another ticket. For combined trips it is advised to buy a 24 hour ticket (12 PLN) or a 1 week/1 month/3 month ticket. The best way to reach the campus is by metro – choose the KABATY direction – for the nearest metro station to the faculty, get off at STOKŁOSY station (ca 20 min). For the nearest metro station to the LIMBA dormitory, get off at Metro URSYNÓW. Students with a SGGW student card can get a good discount on the price of tickets. Upon arrival and registration, students will be given the SGGW student card.
For further information about public transport in Warsaw, go to:

Shops and commercial centres:

Close to the dormitory you can find:

  • E. Leclerc open from 9h till 21h (10 min walk from dormitory)

  • TESCO open 24h (beside Metro Kabaty - 3 metro stations from Stokłosy)

  • IKEA bus from Centrum (IKEA Janki is the closest IKEA store to campus)

  • Galeria Mokotów (famous retail/commercial centre) (4 metro stations, towards Centrum)

  • Złote Tarasy (another big commercial centre nearby Warszawa Centralna train station)

  • Multiplex cinema “Multikino” (1 metro station - Imielin)

What to bring:

Bedding (sheets and blankets) will be provided to every student living in the dorms.

In Limba, there is one kitchen per each 4 person flat, which is equipped with an electric stove/hob, a refrigerator/freezer and a table. We suggest bringing some basic kitchenware from home, e.g. cutlery, your favourite mug, towels, and anything to make your room more homely. All kitchenware items can be bought at Leclerc, TESCO or IKEA.
