how sure you are that you have understood
why they are laughing. For example, if you had absolutely no idea what Professor Hancock has said, you would put 0%. If you are confident you have understood perfectly, you would put 100%. If you knew he was making a joke about Canada, but not more than that, you might put 30%. Inmost cases, you can expect your understanding to be somewhere in the middle, between 0% and 100%.
