Isabel Larrison, 91, Amboy, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007, at 2:39 a.m. at Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo, surrounded by the family she loved so much. She was born November 27, 1915 in Miami County, the daughter of Ray and Gladys Landrum Miller. Isabel married Donald Larrison on June 9, 1935 and he preceded her in death. Isabel graduated from Amboy High School and Marion Business College. She had worked in the Miami County Treasurer's Office and the Miami County Clerk's Office. Isabel and her husband Donald lovingly raised two children. A woman of great faith and integrity, she was a member of the Amboy Friends Church where she had served as Church Treasurer and she attended McGrawsville United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who modeled Christ's love to her family with her unconditional love. She was a 60-year member of the Harrison Homemakers. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Ann Vincent and her husband Wendell of Amboy; a son, Robert Mark Larrison and his wife Joyce of Peru; grandchildren Stephanie Fruth and husband Mike, Lezlie Woods and husband Kevin, Elizabeth Getzin and husband Scott, Roger Vincent and wife Lisa, Kim Ankenbruck, Jennifer Butcher and husband John, and Amy Larrison; great-grandchildren Brad Fruth and wife Laura, Emily Tumbleson and husband Clint, Stephen Fruth, Jordan Woods, Hannah Woods, Parker Woods, Rachel Getzin, Kelsey Getzin, Devin Vincent, Sean Vincent, Nick Ankenbruck, Julie Ankenbruck, Audrey Butcher, and Ian Butcher; brothers Warren Miller of Amboy, and Howard Miller and wife Pat of Abilene, Texas; and a sister, Louise Helm of Peru.
A service celebrating the life of Isabel Larrison will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McGrawsville United Methodist Church, 9377 S. 300 E., Amboy, with Pastor Greg Hiatt officiating; burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Amboy. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Amboy Friends Church, the McGrawsville United Methodist or the Quaker Haven Church Camp.

Kyle O. Adkins, 82, of Las Vegas (formerly of Peru) passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nev., after a five month illness. He was born January 17, 1925 in West Hamlin, W. Va. to Emory and Maude Adkins. A 1943 graduate of Guyan Valley High School, he served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Elizabeth Ann Rish, who survives. Adkins was employed with C & O Railroad from 1946, where he worked as an operator and brakeman/conductor until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifetime member of the Peru Maennerchor. Survivors include one brother, Conrad Adkins of Branchland, W.Va.; four sons: Kevin Adkins, Marquette, Mich., Karim Adkins, Mansfield, Texas; Kreig Adkins and Kelly Adkins, both of Peru; 15 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one son. A Memorial Service will be held at the Main Street Methodist Church in Peru at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2007. A graveside military service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Enon Cemetery near West Hamlin, West Virginia.

Wanda F. Rogers, 53, rural Roann, passed away at 9:37 a.m. Sunday, April 22, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born Oct. 4, 1952 in Pine Mountain, Ky. to Marshall and Bertha (Boggs) Browning. She married Stephen P. Rogers May 8, 1971 in Peru, and he survives. Rogers was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and friend to all. She enjoyed working with flowers, gardening and taking care of her home. Survivors besides her husband include two sons, Stephen P. Rogers II and wife Jamie, Roann, and Bradley M. Rogers and wife Holly, Peru; four grandchildren, Kennedy Rogers and Chelsea Rogers, both of Roann, Elizabeth Rogers and Jackson Rogers, both of Peru; six brothers, Asbel Browning and wife Lorraine, Pine Mountain, Ky., Aaron Browning, Peru, Jim Browning and wife Eileen, Denver, Leonard Browning and wife Kathy, Donald Browning and wife Betty, and Marshall Browning Jr. and wife Juanita, all of Peru; and two sisters, Rose Appleton and husband Tom, Peru, and Lola Jordan and husband Dan, Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Aster Browning.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Paw Paw United Methodist Church, Miami County, with Chaplain Steve Fleck officiating. Burial will be in Paw Paw Cemetery, Miami County. Lou Frances Garnett, 57, Peru, passed away at 2:52 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born Jan. 2, 1950 in Covington, Ky. to Willie and Ora Lillie (Anderson) Garnett. Garnett was a member of Wayman AME Church, Peru. Survivors include two daughters, Vanessa Garnett Hampton and husband Juan, and Gina Garnett, all of Indianapolis; two sons, Gregory and Phillip Garnett, both of Peru; three grandchildren, Victoria Hampton, Trenton Cobble and Brooklynn Garnett; two brothers, Claude Garnett, Indianapolis, and James Garnett, Georgia; and five sisters, Berta Gayle, Kentucky, Bessie Lee, Indianapolis, Jean Jackson, Regina Lee and Pauline Killion, all of Peru. Donald E. Canada, 72, Denver, formerly of Danville, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at his residence. He was born Dec. 31, 1934 in Lebanon to Lester and Zola (Chesterson) Canada. He married Joy Lee Singleton Aug. 26, 1961 in Danville, and she survives. Canada was a mechanical engineer for several years at several companies. He earned his bachelor's degree from General Motors Institute, and graduated from Danville High School in 1953. He also served in the U.S. Air Force for six years. Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Michael Canada and wife Julie, Akron, and Steven Canada and wife Sheri, Brownsburg; a daughter, Lisa Miller and husband Dennis, Rossville; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyle, Bryston and Cheney; and one grandchild due in November. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Baker Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow at Hadley Friends Cemetery. Calling will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Dennis ‘Mike' Donaldson, 71, Peru, went to be with the Lord at 3:18 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2007, due to his illness with Alzheimer's, while his family stood by his side at Caring Hands Healthcare Center. Donaldson was born on January 29, 1936 in Peru to Richard ‘Dick' and Helen (Ebey) Donaldson. On June 15, 1958, he married Karen (Doran) Donaldson, and she survives. He worked at Mike's Painting, as well as Donaldson Mobile Powerwash. Donaldson was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, and enjoyed playing baseball, softball, was an avid pool player, and spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren. He served in the United States Army. Aside from his wife, Donaldson is survived by two daughters, Lori Summers and husband Jim, Peru, Keri Davies and husband Tim, Peru; son, Michael Donaldson, Florida; grandchildren, Christopher Summers, Cody Summers, Stephanie Donaldson, Michael Donaldson, Derek Davies, Andrea Davies, and Jacklyn Davies; and three sisters, Carol Hoover and husband Jim, Peru, Della McKee and husband John, Bunker Hill, and Diana Donaldson, Houston. Funeral services will be conducted at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, at 7 p.m. on Monday, with Deacon Jim Hoover officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru. Robert Leroy Burns, 68, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 1:05 a.m. He was born December 13, 1938 to Robert Franklin and Dorothy Marie (Weir) Burns in Anderson. He graduated from Ben Davis High School and the Indiana State Police Training Academy. Burns worked for the Indiana State Police for 35 years in all manner of criminal investigations. He retired in 1994 as a commander in the Major Drug Section. He was then promoted to "Chief cook and bottle washer" with his wonderful wife, Nancy. He is survived by his wife Nancy, and sons Scott Burns, Chris Burns and wife Debbie; Larry Burns and wife Pam; stepchildren Scott E. Cover and wife Samantha; Brandi Haskett and husband Ryan; and Amber Cover; a brother, Donald Burns and wife Patty; sisters, Julia Burns, and Jan Goetsch and husband Tom. There are several nieces, nephews, grand and great-grandchildren. Everyone enjoyed some farm life and had great fun. On July 14, 1979 he married Nancy Kay Cover. Bob and Nancy decided to move to Missouri in 2000, where they fell in love with the Missourians and friendliness of their neighbors. They enjoyed Missouri Fox Trotters even before moving to Missouri. His first word was "horse" and he hopes that all those trail riders will get out and enjoy their ponies. He sure has! To all our helpers, Wilma, Kay, Sammy, Leah, Linda, Mary, Sheila, Virginia, and everyone else who has given their support. Great job!
Bob served as Chairman of the Board for SMMBCH, President of DCFTHBA Affiliate, and Chairman of the MFTHBA Trail Committee. He also served on the Ethics Committee, Budget and Finance Committee, and is a Lifetime Member of the MFTHBA. He was also a member in good standing with the local saddle club. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on May 1 at 10 a.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, in Ava, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice in care of the funeral home.

Charles Vernon Otis, 76, Sheridan, formerly of Westfield, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Sheridan Healthcare Center of natural causes. He was born May 5, 1930 in Peru to Renzi Jackson and Ollie (Thompson) Otis. He married Wanda (Fariss) Birden Aug. 31, 2003, and she survives. Otis graduated from Westfield High School in 1948, and graduated from Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University). He also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In addition, he was a minister in the Nazarene Church, retiring in 1976. He was a supervisor for the the Transportation Department of the Finance Center at Ft. Harrison in Indianapolis, retiring in 1993, and a substitute teacher for the Westfield Elementary School System for 10 years. He also was a member of Sheridan Wesleyan Church and the Sheridan Historical Society. Survivors besides his wife include a son, Daniel D. Otis, Peru; a step-son, Michael A. Birden, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Julia J. Montgomery and husband Jamie, Westfield; three step-daughters, Mary Ann Parr, Anderson, Debra S. Rybolt, Sheridan, and Nancy L. Heliotis, Noblesville; two sisters, Louise Correll, Peru, and Sondra Mendenhall, Tipton; several nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eldon Otis.

Connie M. Hutchison, 65, Peru, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor, Peru. She was born Nov. 26, 1941 in Peru to Earl W. and Betty (Drudge) VanBaalen. She graduated from Peru High School in 1959, and married Don W. Hutchison Dec. 29, 1975. He preceded her in death Nov. 12, 2006. Hutchison retired from Delphi Electronics, Kokomo. Survivors include her mother in Peru; a daughter, Laura Santos and husband David, Kokomo; a son, Jeff Harshman and wife Sharon, Denver; two step-daughters, Sandra Winslow and husband Fred, Kokomo, and Bedra Galant and husband Rick, Millington, Mich.; a step-son, Don Hutchison and wife Suk, Dallas, Texas; a sister, Kathy Sparks and husband Danny, Peru; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband and a step-granddaughter, Tersea Osborne. Frances Marguerite Vale, 87, Cottonwood, Ariz., passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2007. She was born Dec. 31, 1919 in Chili to Edward and Jessie (Allen) Keirn. Vale was fortunate to be able to stay at home and truly enjoy her roles as wife and mother. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family adored her, and shall forever. She was a member of Mountain View Methodist Church, Cottonwood, Ariz., where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She also enjoyed traveling. Vale leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Albert Vale, Cottonwood, Ariz.; two daughters, Melanie Gould and husband Randy, Encinitas, Calif., and Vicki Wait and husband Rick, Oxnard, Calif.; a brother, Noel Keirn and wife Helen, Peru; her only grandson, Alex Gould, Encinitas, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews, including Jerry Keirn, Peru, Kelly Meadows, Peru, and Edward Keirn, Indianapolis.

Charles L. Douglas, 74, Royal Center, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 at Logansport Memorial Hospital. He was born March 24, 1933 in Hoopston, Ill., to Lawrence Fred and Viola (Hoover) Douglas. On June 28, 1953 he married Leaetta J. Vernon, and she survives. Douglas was a 1951 Royal Center High School graduate, an Army National Guard veteran for over 30 years, a member of Crooked Creek Christian Church, Royal Center, Winamac Aero Modelers Club and a lifetime member of the N.R.A. His hobbies included woodworking and coin collecting. He retired in 1993 from the Logansport State Hospital where he was a manager in the cold storage department. Surviving besides his wife include a son, Ron Douglas and wife Jan, Peru; two grandchildren, Sabrina and Blake Douglas; and special family friends, Don and Darlene Kerr and family, Royal Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Juanita Drake and Thelma Rhody Jersoki.

Lewis D. Little, 92, Caring Hands Nursing Home, Peru, passed away at 2:22 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2007 at Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo. He was born Oct. 16, 1914 in Miami County to Charles and Nell (DeLawter) Little. He married Thelma L. (Hopper) Little June 9, 1935, and she survives. Little retired in 1977 as a pipe mechanic from NIPSCO. He also was a member of First Christian Church, Peru. Survivors besides his wife include three daughters, Janet Cochran, Melborne, Fla., Deloris Wise and husband Jerry, Peru, and Ruth Ellis and husband Major "Ned," Kokomo; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Indiana Davidson; a daughter, Shirley Snyder; and a granddaughter.

Sylvia Ann Shultz, 63, Peru, passed away at 7:37 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Peru.
She was born May 22, 1943 in Metropolis, Ill. to Naomi Davis. She was adopted and raised by Roy E. and Myrtle L. Barrett (deceased). She married Paul K. Shultz Oct. 9, 1971, and he preceded her in death Jan. 4, 2006. Shultz was a homemaker, loved to garden and canning what she and her husband grew. Painting still life was one of her favorite hobbies. In addition, she played several instruments and was a member of Church of Christ, Peru. Survivors include her mother, Naomi Reed; two half-sisters, June Greeson and Linda LaFary; four half-brothers, James, Clifford, Michael and Jason Reed; and two special cousins, Minnie Lee Maxwell and Betsy Maxwell.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, with Evangelist Ivan Minglin officiating.

Frances Jean Cook, 75, Peru, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born on September 28, 1931 in LaFontaine, to Charles A. and Neva B. Shafer. On March 22, 1952, she married Dale W. Cook Sr. and he preceded her in death. Cook was a cancer survivor, and was very active in home health care as a nurse's aide. She performed this duty, caring for others, including her best friend, Betty Hunter, even while undergoing chemotherapy treatments herself. She retired as a machine operator at United Technologies, and was a member of the First Christian Church in Peru. Cook is survived by two sons, Dale W. Cook Jr., Balch Springs, Texas, and Phillip D. Cook, Peru; four daughters, Sue Ann VanMeter and husband Jimmie, Kokomo, Patricia Woodhouse and husband Steve, Peru, Barbara J. Anderson and husband David, Peru, and Jane K. Lowe and husband Ron, Peru; two sisters, Marie DeVault, Prescott, Arizona, and Louise Perkins, Lake Havasu, Arizona; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Aside from her husband, Cook was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Keith Randell Correll, 53, Peru, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor, Peru. He had been suffering with a severe illness for several months. Keith, known as Randy, was born Sept. 23, 1953 in Peru to Keith E. and Dorothy (Eckelbarger) Correll. He was raised and supported his entire life by his grandparents: Archi and Ethel Eckelbarger (deceased). Randy was a special kind of man who befriended everyone he met. He worked at lawn and garden care in his younger days and had a happy life in spite of being dealt several challenges in his journey through life. Survivors include his father in Kokomo; his mother in Logansport; three sisters; a step-brother; a step-sister; aunts and uncles. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru, with burial there as well. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.

Lowell R. "Dick" Myers, 74, Roann, passed away at 2:29 a.m. Sunday, May 6, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born April 9, 1933 in Corning, Ark. to Harry G. and Gladys J. (Dunlap) Myers. He married Shirley Hopkins July 2, 1951, and she survives. Myers retired from the U.S. Navy, serving 10 years in the Fleet Navy and 10 years in the Navy Seabees. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he was a self-employed heating/cooling technician and electrician. He also was a life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the National Rifle Association and the Fleet Reserve Association. Survivors besides his wife include a daughter, Catherine Ray and husband Jerry, Peru; two sons, Jeffrey E. Myers and wife Cynthia, Nashville, Tenn., and Franklin R. Myers and wife JoAnn, Brisbane, Calif.; five grandchildren, Erich J. Myers, Dereck W. Ray and wife Amanda, Amanda C. Bullins, Amber Hurt and husband Shannon, and Tara L. Myers and wife Mattie, Blytheville, Ark.; four sisters, Claraellen Mertz and wife Delmar, St. Louis, Mo., Iola Smith, Elsberry, Mo., Dolores Hill, Calico Rock, Ark., and Norma Jean Hicks and husband Tommy, Osceola, Ark.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 181 W. Main St., Peru, with Pastors Richard Rickus and Kenneth Greenwald officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. A military committal service will be performed by the U.S. Navy. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.
