Is it permissible to lounge around and just do whatever (watch tv…) for the rest of your life Kant → it’s not good enough that it doesn’t interfere with our rationality, it doesn’t do anything to promote it. Not using your brain atrophy, waste away mentally.
Do help others beneficence
Things are going well for you, and others around you are struggling. Not going to get in their way or harm them, but I’m not going to help them. (do I have any obligations to help them) Kant → not helping, but not harming. You can’t let rationality go to waste in others as well they are valuable to.
Moral duty what we are obliged to do. Duty = we must dob Types of Duties → strict vs broad positive vs negative Positive → things you must do Neg → things you must not do Strict duties are very specific (ie don’t kill, coerce, manipulate, deceive) Broader duties have some flexibility not tightly specified. Give you some leeway in how you implement. Application
