A note about grading (PLEASE READ).
This is a difficult course that will require considerable effort from you. As in all introductory/survey courses, you will be presented with a huge amount of information. You are responsible for learning this information, as it constitutes the “nuts and bolts” of biological anthropology. In this regard, this course is actually somewhat more difficult than upper level bio-anthropology courses because you are tested on recalling numerous facts and details, rather than your ability to analytically synthesize important concepts. The latter falls out naturally from how one learns: you need to learn basic facts before you can start putting these facts together into a coherent picture (recall, you had to memorize multiplication tables before you could use multiplication for a more applied task, such as calculating the volume of a swimming pool).
