Inclement Weather and Religious Observances
If classes are canceled due to inclement weather I will make adjustments to the course schedule to include any material that is missed; this may include using an officially designated “make-up day.” The official JMU “bad weather” policy is here: https://www.jmu.edu/osarp/about/inclement-weather.shtml. You can also log on to the JMU Homepage and weather information is updated there. If you have a religious holiday that you need to attend please let me know and I will accommodate you.
Reporting Sexual or Gender-Based Harassment, Violence, or Misconduct
James Madison University is committed to fostering a safe, productive learning environment free of sex and gender-based discrimination (and all other forms of discrimination). Title IX and our university policies prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex. Sexual and gender-based misconduct—including harassment, domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking—is also prohibited at JMU. For a complete listing of definitions of sexual and gender-based misconduct see: http://www.jmu.edu/titleIX/resources/terms.shtml
As an instructor, one of my responsibilities is to help create a safe learning environment on our campus. I also have a mandatory reporting responsibility related to my role as JMU employee. I am required to share information regarding sexual misconduct or information about a crime that may have occurred on campus with the University. Students may speak to someone confidentially by contacting the Counseling Center (540-568-6552), or CARE (Campus Assault ResponsE) (540-568-6411), a 24-hour student run sexual assault hotline.
