Amanda York, of Milford, who has been chosen as a member of the People to People Student Ambassador Program. This program fulfills the vision Dwight D. Eisenhower had for fostering world citizenship when he founded People to People during his presidency in 1956. Robert Giguere, in appreciation of his 25 years of commitment and dedication as Chaplain at the Androscoggin County Jail. Affectionately known as Pastor Bob, his ministry goes far beyond the confines of the jail. He assists with the needs of the families of the offenders and provides some follow-up once the offender is released from custody. He is also responsible for coordinating all religious services and special presentations at the jail and is available for weekly counseling with offenders. Pastor Giguere resides in Lewiston where he and his beloved wife, Beverly, have raised 5 children. He is the senior minister of the Fellowship Church, an independent nondenominational ministry located in Greene. Wayne Latham Jackson, of East Baldwin, formerly of Westbrook. Mr. Jackson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Maine and was a Service Forester for the Maine Forest Service in South Paris from 1958-1964, where he managed the Forest Unit Productivity Project, one of 3 in the United States. In 1964, he began employment with S.D. Warren Paper Co. as a Senior Forester, and continued for 32 years at their Bingham and Westbrook locations. Mr. Jackson retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and Military Policeman with 30 years of Reserve service. He was a member of the American Legion and the Order of Masons - Paris Lodge #94. He served on the Westbrook School Committee and, when he and his family moved to Baldwin in 1992, he became very active in that community's affairs, serving as a trustee of the Baldwin Brown Memorial Library, a member of the Baldwin Historical Society and the Baldwin Appeals Board. Mr. Jackson also was a member of Small Woodlot Owner's Association of Maine and helped coordinate Tree Farm Family Field Days throughout southern Maine and exhibits at the Fryeburg Fair. He was a member of numerous sporting and professional organizations and was a true Maine sportsman in every sense of the word. We acknowledge Mr. Jackson's dedicated service to his communities, to his profession and to the State of Maine. Alberta Wentworth, of Wells, a former Member of the Maine State Legislature and a former Town Clerk of Wells. Mrs. Wentworth moved to Wells in the early 1940s and ran a grocery store on Route 1 for many years. She started a nursery school, which, along with Wentworth Cabins, she ran for 7 years. She was the Town Clerk of Wells from 1959 to 1978 and she also served as Selectman for several terms. She served in the Maine House of Representatives during the 109th-114th Legislatures. Laura Newman, of Portland, a member of Portland Trails, upon the honored occasion of her receiving the distinguished Community Partnership Award from the Department of Education and the KIDS Consortium of Lewiston. Richard Libbey, of Auburn, and Wilburt Libbey, of Westwood, Massachusetts and Bridgton, for their gift to the Gray Community Endowment of 45 acres of land in the Libby Hill area of the Town of Gray. The Libbey family, formerly Libby, were some of the first settlers in Gray, and the parcel of land has been in the family for 200 years. The sharing of these family assets with the Town of Gray will ensure the protection and use of this land for outdoor recreation and educational opportunities for generations to come. The Libbeys' forested land is contiguous with the existing Libby Hill Forest Trails and will support expansion of the network of trails. United States Army Sergeant Nicholes D. Golding, 24, of Addison, who died February 13, 2004 while in service to his Nation, in Ghanzni, Afghanistan. Nicholes, known as Nick, was assigned to Company C, 2/87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Nick made the ultimate sacrifice for his country and he will long be remembered by his grateful State and Nation. He had an enduring devotion not only to the military and to his country, but to his family and friends. He married his high school sweetheart, Heidi Christiansen, in 1998 while home on leave after basic training and was the father of 2 young children, Christopher Nicholas Golding and Bailey Nichole Golding. William G. Yates, of Raymond, who has received the Boy Scout Eagle Award, the highest award in Boy Scouting. William attended the Jordan-Small Elementary School in Raymond through 6th grade and is currently a senior at North Yarmouth Academy. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop #800. His Eagle Scout Project was to construct two dugouts on the back baseball field at the Sheri Gagnon Park in Raymond. In this endeavor, William designed the dugouts, obtained donations of money and materials and led the building of the dugouts. Included in his project was also the refurbishing of benches for each dugout and spreading sand floors to battle the annual mud problem. William was able to bring together many community businesses, citizens and members of the troop in support of this worthwhile project that has benefited all.
