-Cornerstone
Acceleration & Strength Training (high school athletes)
In the Cornerstone Program, students aged 14 and older are introduced to advanced training techniques including the Olympic Platform and plyometrics. The Cornerstone program is sport-specific and workouts are tailored to meet the individual strengths and weaknesses of the students.
Students begin the Cornerstone program with a thorough evaluation and orientation. The evaluation includes an assortment of running, jumping, agility and flexibility tests. Body measurements are taken if requested. Based on the results of the evaluation, the student’s coach creates a workout for the student, tailoring the workout to meet the student’s individual goals. The workout includes a variety of exercises including
-
Dynamic warmup, focused on flexibility and joint range of motion
-
Core strength and stabilization exercises
-
Complex Olympic lifting movements
-
Running and agility drills
-
Plyometric movements
-
Frappier Acceleration technology
After the workout is written, the student attends 3 one-on-one sessions with a coach to learn the exercises. After these three sessions, the student comes to the Center and completes the workout under staff supervision. Staff members review the student’s progress after each session and update the workout to optimize results.
This program effectively prepares the student to train in college-level weight training programs. Sessions are 90 minutes in duration. Modified programs are available for students in sport seasons.

the fitness center has collected approximately $70,000 per year
in rent from it
3. Focus on Performance
-Several unique programs focusing on improving individual, team, and school athletics performance. With high number of competitive amateurs in Bay Area this may be an opportunity for Skyline.
-Performance Training for athletes offered at Fort Sanders Health & Fitness Center, one of the few fitness centers in the country to offer this type of program. Performance Training uses speed-agility-quickness (SAQ) training to concentrate on improving an individual's neuro-muscular system. The goal is for initial movement---lateral, linear, or vertical---to become automatic, explosive, and precise. Drills are designed to be performed with easy-to-use equipment like quick foot ladders, mini-hurdles, balance boards, and medicine balls. Performance Training builds on an individual's current abilities and training, progressing the participant through different levels of drills.
-Extended Rehabilitation
One of Performance Training's newest and most exciting programs is Extended Rehabilitation (Extended Rehab). We started this program since we have a close relationship with the orthopedic healthcare community in Knoxville and often receive a great number of referrals. Patients recovering from all types of injuries, athletes and non-athletes alike, are working with us to get back on the road to recovery and make a return to an active lifestyle.
Since we have a sports and activity related background, our intention is to allow our clients to get back into their regular fitness or athletic routines. No matter what the injury, Performance Training can help anyone on their road to recovery with the Extended Rehab program.
-Speed-Agility-Quickness Camps
Performance Training and its staff members operate several camps both locally and out-of-state. These Camps generally run for 3-4 days and are designed for middle school and high school athletes.
The typical Camp consists of 3-4 days, with training being provided in 3 hour blocks usually in the morning from 9:00-12:00 and again later in the evening. Camp size is limited in such a way that will allow an approximate 15:1 camper to instructor ratio. Camps are open to athletes from any sport and include intensive SAQ training as well as a weight lifting component where available.
-Speed-Agility-Quickness Training
Performance Training offers Speed, Agility, Quickness (SAQ) training to athletes of all ages and all sports. The training program seeks to improve an athlete's linear and lateral foot speed, linear/lateral/vertical explosion, balance, coordination, running form, flexibility, and athletic confidence.
Training is offered 7 days a week, year-round and is open to members and non-members of Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center. Most sessions are 1 hour in length and athletes train anywhere from once to three times per week. Rates are based on the length of the session and the number of athletes in each session. Teams and small groups are welcome to get together and train. Each SAQ training program includes a pre-test and post-test to measure improvement, and results are guaranteed.

Concept: helping athletes in every sport, at all ages and all skill levels, realize their athletic potential through advanced sports performance training programs scientifically designed to maximize human sports performance. | Mission: Develop a national chain of profitable Velocity Sports Performance Training Centers that will become the brand name of choice among athletes of all ages who seek to maximize performance | Vision Statement: Promote sports participation as a means for building the confidence, health, character and teamwork that lead to life success. | Market Position: Currently, Velocity Sports Performance is the only nationally franchised sports performance training company. Velocity Sports Performance will be a worldwide brand within the next three to five years. | Target Market/Market Potential: Velocity Sports Performance targets people who play sports regardless of age, skill level or gender. Velocity Sports Performance trains athletes from all sports disciplines. |
Training modules include: Speed, agility, and coordination; strength and power; flexibility; energy system development; and muscle regeneration.
| Historical Data: Founded in 1999, Velocity Sports Performance began as the brainchild of internationally-recognized coach Loren Seagrave who developed a program to train student athletes to develop their speed, power, and agility. David Walmsley and Richard Kissane came on board, bringing business and franchising expertise to the exciting new concept. | Growth Projections/Strategy: The company began franchising on June 1, 2002 and has sold over 160 centers. By the end of 2004, over 40 centers were open across the country, with one in Canada. By year-end 2005 over 100 centers will be open. Additional sales are planned for 2005 both nationally and internationally.
Strong interest from potential franchisees is allowing the company to be both selective and cautious when choosing franchisees and locations, further assuring a solid, successful operation.
| Franchise Facts: Each Velocity Sports Performance Training Center is a 10,000-30,000 square foot, enclosed, climate-controlled facility with 9,000-20,000 square feet dedicated to sports performance training. The training area includes a synthetic turf field, a 60-yard rubberized track, a hard court surface, and branded rubberized fooring for other areas of the center.
The estimated initial investment ranges from $215,000 to $650,000, depending on location, and includes an initial franchise fee of $30,000, plus leasehold improvements, indoor surfaces, equipment, working capital, and other costs.
Franchisees receive a full support program, including site selection and build-out assistance; staff recruiting assistance; training; grand opening support; marketing, advertising and public relations support; ongoing training and support.
Once a center is up and running, ongoing capital expenditures are minimal. The flooring (turf, track, court), which is the largest initial expense, is guaranteed for 10 years. There is no inventory (either perishable or durable) to carry. Labor costs are controlled by the number of clients. | Staffing: The two key positions in each center are the business director and the sports performance director. In most cases, the franchisee will handle the business director position. The sports performance director, as well as additional coaches who are hired as needed, hold degrees in exercise physiology or related fields. There is an abundant field of qualified applicants for these positions. |
-Programs: Student—college prep, make varsity, stronger/faster. Golf performance—drives, swing, increase endurance, strength, energy. Fitness—general to tri-athlete. Professional athlete/elite athlete.
