It includes handheld devices such as Palm Pilots, personal computers (desktops and laptops, mainframe computers, and so forth. o Networked devices can be connected directly to the Internet. o They also can be connected to other devices through one or more privately o owned computer networks. o Privately owned networks include both Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide o Area Networks (WANs).
Computer Ethics – refers to the guiding precepts (principles) and norms that are adopted and applied to regulate and control the use of computers and its applications. Defined as the application of classical ethical principles to the use of computer technology.
Ten COMMANDMENTS for Computer Ethics / Cyberethics
(from the Computer Ethics Institute)

College of Engineering and Architecture Computer Engineering
CpE Laws and Professional Practice
1. Thou shalt not use a computer to harm other people.
This particular commandment prohibits the use of computers to harm others. Harming people does not only mean physically inflicting injury. The harm that is contemplated here is that which affects the emotions of the mental health of people. One example of a psychologically harmful act is the circulation of nude photographs of women. It violates rules of the decency and dishonors the female person. Many of the nude pictures of famous women that are circulated on the Internet were merely altered, or faked. Just the same, they are damaging to the women’s reputation.
