          1. Project that DA’s office is working on: Community court of Fulton Industrial is working really well and they are going to expand it to zone 1 and other areas as well.

            1. They break down the barriers of adversarial process and instead discuss treatment and interactive processes. Crime has been reduced up to 40% from this process. Very positive outlook.

        1. Health disparities – health problems that impact African-Americans more than the general population. They are focused on addressing some of those disparities.

          1. Proposed to open a training facility for adults

            1. Planned to use upper floor to house families

            2. They didn’t have the funding in place

            1. Randy: this sounds more like a dream than a concrete concept.

              1. Long term lease proposed with APS instead of buying it outright.

              2. Neighborhood voted NO until they could come up with better plans and proof of funding that will be coming

          1. Not present but forwarded information about Citizen’s Police Academy and encourages people to apply. It is an 8 week process and a deep dive into the information the fire department offers.

          2. Want to get info to us regarding home ownership, small business, and people with ideas but who aren’t sure where to start to get them off the ground

LEGISLATION for REVIEW and COMMENT

15-0-1159 - AN ORDINANCE BY COUNCILMEMEBER MICHAEL BOND AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TO ESTABLISH A SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR THE ATLANTA STREET-CAR CHARTER SERVICES PROGRAM TO OFSET THE OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE COSTS OF THE CHARTER SERVICES PROGRAM; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.




City of Atlanta Brownfields Assessment Program

The City of Atlanta has established a voluntary assistance program to provide no cost Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) for select brownfield properties throughout the city. This program was established thanks to a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfields Program and will end on September 30, 2016.
Candidate sites under the current assessment program are those that are considered brownfields, are located in priority areas of the city, will be redeveloped in the near-term and will serve as catalysts for other redevelopment efforts. Nominations for Assessments will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year and will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis. ATTENTION” BYLAWS REVIEW and UPDATE

DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 30

Sec. 6-3016. Bylaws.

(a) (1) N.P.U. bylaws shall be submitted to the bureau of planning no later than September 30 of each year for compliance with city code requirements.

(2) Said bylaws shall become effective January 1st of the following year.

(3) This article (Code sections 6-3011 through 6-3019) shall be attached as an exhibit to the bylaws of each N.P.U. with each annual submission to the bureau of planning.

(b) All neighborhood planning units shall have bylaws for their members to follow which shall be approved annually by a majority of the residents (as defined in section 6-3012(3)) of the N.P.U. in attendance at the meeting where the bylaws are voted upon. At said meeting there shall be no restrictions upon a resident's right to vote on the approval or disapproval of the bylaws. These bylaws shall be filed with the department of planning, development and neighborhood conservation. The bylaws shall be reviewed and approved annually by the bureau of planning and the neighborhood planning unit for clarity as to voting procedures, representativeness of all interested parties within the neighborhood planning unit, and a description of the duties of any subcommittees or officers.

(c) Recommendations of an N.P.U shall not be accepted by the council until the N.P.U. has complied with subsection (a) above.
