The below guide is not an upgrade guide and does not contain all steps of the upgrade but only required items to restart the unit ready to install the charts. In order to avoid such situations, you must verify (before transfer waypoints to ECDIS) that the total amount of transferred waypoints will NOT exceed the 200 waypoints. 1. Isolating ECDIS Units) From the Network The main concept of units isolation of the network is to avoid overwriting of data on the working ECDIS unit. In this way we are certain that whatever happens the one ECDIS unit will continue working without being affected. There are two steps to follow a. Software isolation where the settings of the working unit should be altered to stop the efforts of synchronizing. So the charts menu should be accessed and then from submenu system the Sync Config “ should be selected. This by return will navigate the user to the submenu of sync configuration as indicated in the below picture. In this sub menu the unit appearing in Grouped section must be selected and the right arrow must be clicked in order the unit to be transferred to Not synchronize section. Once the procedure ends save and restart ECDIS unit for the changes to take effect. b. The hardware isolation Open both ECDIS unit covers and locate LAN and LAN port ( if your vessel is connected to LAN only there is no problem) . Once you locate the ports disconnect the LAN cables from both ECDIS units
