Advocate for Service Employees International Union Local 1985. I testified at a hearing (and press conference) held March 24, 2004 by the Georgia State Legislature Committee on Children and Youth. I testified in favor of HB 1554, which would limit caseloads for Georgia child welfare caseworkers. I spoke in favor of the same bill on February 22, 2005 at Local 1985 press conference at the Capitol. Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Canvasser for Floridians For All which successfully passed Proposition 5 raising the minimum wage in Florida. Initiative passed 72% to 28%. (Jacksonville, Fla. October 28 to November 2, 2004) Consultant for Transportation Committee at ACORN’s National Conventions (Los Angeles, 2004; Chicago, 2002; Philadelphia, 2000) Technical Consultant for Georgia ACORN. Conducted one day canvass training July 23, 2004. GOTV Volunteer for Local 100 Service Employees International Union in New Orleans. Local 100 sponsored Proposition A which would raise the minimum wage in New Orleans. The Ballot initiative was approved by voters by a 20% margin, but later declared unconstitutional by the Louisiana Supreme Court.
