Beautifully illustrated with b/w facsimiles, with a couple in color lithos: Frederick the Wise (Lucas Cranach, painter) & Luther's Mother (also Cranach). The author was Professor in Church History at Union Theological Seminary, NYC. Bound into this volume are 9pp (smaller size) of a biography of Luther (source unverified). Also bound in is pamphlet in German published in 1928 in Weimar, the title translated "Contents of D. Martin Luthers Work". Wear to head & tail of spine & at corners.
