2014-2015 MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
As we enter into the beginning of another membership year our goals remain the same. The Department of Michigan must strive to maintain our membership numbers so the Veterans of Foreign Wars will remain a powerful voice for veterans of this great state of Michigan. How we accomplish this goal:
-
We are asking every Commander to appoint a membership chairman for their Post, County Council and District.
-
Make every effort to recruit younger vets, especially those who served in the Persian Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan or received the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
-
If each of our 50,000 members would only ask one person to join, what a large number of new members that would be.
-
Remember that Vietnam veterans are still the largest pool of eligible veterans in the state.
Your membership team is ready to assist you to the best of our ability. But you must call and let us know your recruiting plan. Let Us Help! Your Membership Director’s number is 989-313-2108.
RECRUITER AWARDS
The top recruiter of new members in the state will receive a special recruiter cap.
The Post with the most new and reinstated members will receive a check for $300.00 at the State Convention.
The Post with the highest percentage of new and reinstated will receive a check for $300.00 at the State Convention.
A Post that is 100% in membership will receive a 100% membership banner from the State Commander.
All awards will be judged by the June 1st National membership report.
TO RECEIVE RECRUITER AWARDS YOUR POST MUST BE 100% IN MEMBERSHIP.
This program will be adhered to in all categories. It shall be the State Commander’s prerogative to make any changes to the Membership program this administrative year.

2014-2015 NATIONAL MILITARY SERVICES (NMS)
The Veterans of Foreign Wars is again in the forefront of patriotism as the organization and its members find ways to show support for America and her armed forces. As our nation fights terrorism, thousands of our active-duty and Reserve service members, along with the National Guard, will be deployed overseas and stateside for what is expected to be a tough battle. Supporting our troops now is more important then ever before. It is our duty as Americans to do our part to keep their spirits and morale up.
The Department of Michigan VFW has an on going program set up to assist our troops. We have adopted units from Michigan and have been sending items like cassettes, cassette players, Walkmans, Game Boys, video CDs, DVDs and players. We have sent laptop computers and digital cameras to several units. Department has sent out hundreds of Operation Uplink Phone Cards to our troops overseas and state side to our veterans that are hospitalized. We are also working with Family Support Groups so that the family members at home are helped out to.
We are asking each Post to donate what they can to help out our troops. Donations must be sent to Department of Michigan.
