Guided Practice

  • Model how to create biography webs on people who had a major influence on American society during this era. (US.1A, US.1B, US.5A, US.5B, 10B, 13A, 15C, 18B, 18C, 23A, 24A, 24B, 24C, 25A, 25B, 25C, 25D, 26A, 26B)



  • With a partner have students create a biography web of people listed by the instructor. The web should contain information only related to this time period and also have graphical representations of the person and/or attributes of the person.

  • Guide students while creating a cause and effect graphic organizer to demonstrate how the following events affected American society: (US.1A, US.1B, US.5A, US.5B, 10B, 13A, 15C, 18B, 18C, 23A, 24A, 24B, 24C, 25A, 25B, 25C, 25D)

  • Red Scare

  • Nativism

  • Immigration

  • Prohibition

  • Scopes Trial

  • 19th Amendment




  • With a partner have students create a cause and effect graphic organizer for each of the listed events and/or concepts.

  • For each event and/or concept, create an informative placard that includes:

    1. Graphical representation of the event/concept

    2. full description of the event/concept

    3. the importance of the event/concept

    4. how the event/concept affected American society during this era.
