Standard benefits for the rabbi in addition to salary (not included in “A” above):
We are pleased to structure a benefits package based on the rabbi’s individual needs that is valued up to $25,000. Components of this package could include:
Pension contribution: Contributions to the Joint Retirement Board for Conservative Judaism, to provide a pension program for the rabbi.
Major Medical Insurance – Hospitalization: A monthly stipend to go towards Major Medical Insurance. The rabbi would be responsible for arranging and paying his/her own health insurance policy.
Convention Allowance/Continuing Education: Annual allotment of money for attending convention and continuing education opportunities. These funds could be used for registration and travel expenses.
Income – Disability Insurance: Payment of the premium, within reasonable limits, for disability insurance through the Group Disability Insurance Policy sponsored by the Rabbinical Assembly, or a similar plan.
Professional Dues: Funds for professional dues and publications.
Vacation: 2 – 4 weeks paid vacation.
Maternity/Paternity Leave: Yes
Is FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Tax) covered or reimbursed (not applicable outside the U.S.)?

As stated above, we seek to work with the rabbi to structure a package that meets his/her individual needs. If certain benefits are available to him/her through other sources, then we can allocate funds more heavily in other areas.

Describe the parsonage:
Our parsonage is a 3 bedroom, 2 ½ bath home located on the synagogue’s campus in the Morningside district within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The home features hardwood floors, a marble foyer that leads to a large living room with a fireplace and built-in shelves and a dining room. Also on the main floor is a good-sized, updated eat-in kitchen, a master suite with a whirlpool tub and 2 other bedrooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom. The powder room, mudroom with washer/dryer and an enclosed sunroom with skylights complete the first floor. The home includes a partially finished lower level with a den, bedroom, and full bathroom. Located on about a quarter of an acre, the home boasts a spacious front yard and a fenced-in back yard.

Does the congregation currently have a deficit? Fiscal year 2012 ended with a surplus intended to fund a re-roofing project scheduled in 2013. With the transfer forward from 2012, revenues and expenditures were in balance in Fiscal Year 2013. Fiscal Year 2014 is on track to end in balance.
