Elbistan Solid Waste Management Project

Brief description of its aim and intended results:

The measures considered as part of the project are listed as follows:

  • Provision of equipment (containers and collection trucks) for the improved waste storage and collection in the entire Kahramanmaraş Environmental Infrastructure Basic Services Union, according to the provisions of the Master Plan

  • Construction of one regional landfill in Afşin to dispose of the waste from urban and rural areas of the Kahramanmaraş Environmental Infrastructure Basic Services Union

  • One new composting plant with windrow compost process located at the landfill site in Afşin, aimed at treating the organic fraction from households and commercial entities in the Union’s service area

  • One sorting plant at landfill site in Afşin

  • Construction of two new transfer stations

  • Closure (in-situ) and remediation of Elbistan, and Afşin dumpsites

  • Relocation and closure of small dumpsites in the urban and rural areas of the Kahramanmaraş Environmental Infrastructure Basic Services Union

  • Implementation of the Technical Assistance project

ANNEX V: Indicative Reserve List of Major Projects - Waste

Project title:

Siverek Solid Waste Management Project

Brief description of its aim and intended results:

The measures considered as part of the project are listed as follows:

  • Provision of equipment (containers and collection trucks) for the improved waste storage and collection in the entire Siverek Environmental Services Union, according to the provisions of the Master Plan

  • Construction of one regional landfill in Siverek to dispose of the waste from urban areas of the Siverek Environmental Services Union

  • One new composting plant with windrow compost process located at the regional landfill in Siverek municipality, aimed at treating the organic fraction from households and commercial entities in the Union’s service area, including composting of animal manure. In addition construction of a number of collection platforms for animal waste.

  • One sorting plant at landfill site in Siverek

  • Construction of one new transfer station (TS) in Hilvan Municipality

  • Rehabilitation in situ of Hilvan dumpsite and Siverek dumpsite

  • Implementation of the Technical Assistance project

Brief description of its aim and intended results:

The measures considered as part of the project are listed as follows:

  • Provision of equipment (containers and collection trucks) for the improved waste storage and collection in the entire Hakkâri Union, according to the provisions of the Master Plan, including collection of MSW, recyclables, and ash

  • Construction of one regional landfill in Akçali to dispose of the waste from urban and rural areas of the Hakkâri Union

  • One new composting plant with windrow compost process located at the landfill site in Akçali, aimed at treating the organic fraction from households and commercial entities in the Union’s service area

  • One sterilization plant for medical waste located at the landfill site in Akçali, aimed at treating the medical waste from the entire Union’s service area

  • One sorting plant at landfill site in Akçali

  • Complete closure of two main dumpsites at Hakkâri and Yüksekova Municipalities and simplified closure of Çukurca dumpsite

  • Closure and transfer of waste from the dumpsites at Şemdinli, Esendere and Derecik

  • TA for supervision and institutional building

  • Provision of an integrated system for collection and transfer of waste by means of side-loaded compaction trucks with demountable containers, platforms for parking containers, and a transfer system by truck/trailers

  • Construction of one regional landfill in Tekeli to dispose of the waste from urban and rural areas of the ÇOKAB Union

  • One new composting plant with windrow compost process located at the landfill site in Tekeli (Oltu), aimed at treating the organic fraction from households and commercial entities in the Union’s service area

  • One sorting plant for recyclable waste established at landfill site in Oltu

  • Complete in-situ closure and rehabilitation of four dumpsites in the ÇOKAB service area, e.g. Oltu, Uzundere, Artvin, and İspir

  • Closure by relocation of the waste from dumpsites in the ÇOKAB

  • Implementation of the Technical Assistance project
