Thank you to Volunteers / Introduction to GLS Offering with Bill’s Comments Video (slides on back screen)

Volunteers will be assembled at the rear of the auditorium ready to receive a thank you from the Facilitator on behalf of the Delegates. Liaise with Producer / Event Manager to determine if the Volunteers are to stay where they are or if they are to walk onto the stage (depending on the logistics at your venue).

You will recall that we spoke about the Emerging Leaders’ Offering yesterday. As mentioned, each year we take an offering at every Summit venue in the Western world to help support GLS locations in developing countries where it would be impossible for them to finance such an event themselves. Before we do that, let’s take a look at the following –

10:52 MESSAGE STARTS:

One of the reasons I’m still excited about the Global Leadership Summit 20 years into its run is that I see its ability to provide hope and help and training and resources to some of the most heroic people I know on the planet. In my travels, I see churches that are struggling often because of forces that came from the outside that made the health and the welfare of their church get compromised …

11:01 MESSAGE ENDS:

Because of your generosity last year, we held Global Summits in Naple, Paraguay and Mozambique and Chad and several other countries and this was communicated to you yesterday for the first time in Cuba, which was an amazing success and they’re hoping for four more sites in other cities across Cuba. This, and the opportunity in so many other countries, is exciting to me. It keeps me pumped up - that we could provide world class leadership training for places in the world that need it the most and can afford it the least. This is cool and I hope it gets you fired up a little as well.

GLS Emerging Leaders’ Offering

You will have been given an Emerging Leaders’ Offering envelope when you arrived for this session. If you haven’t got one, then please ask one of our ushers. We spoke about this yesterday and this is your opportunity to make a donation by credit or debit card or cash. Unfortunately, we cannot accept bank cheques but welcome SOV and CAF cheques. If you qualify for Gift Aid, then please make your declaration on the form, whatever type of payment you are making. The extra funds that can be claimed through Gift Aid will make a significant difference to the total amount we are able to raise. Please could we ask that you fill out the Gift Aid form, even if you have done so at a previous Global Leadership Summit. If you do not qualify for Gift Aid then please do not fill in the bottom half of the form. When you have completed the form, please pop it into the envelope provided, together with your donation, and complete the details on the envelope and then seal the envelope. Any cash donations which are not gift aided can be just dropped into the offertory bin/bag. Thank you.
MUSIC GROUP to play while STEWARDS take up OFFERING.

Prayer after Offering

The following is an outline to indicate content of prayer but please pray your own words from the heart along these lines:
Father God, once again we thank you that you love the entire world. Your love knows no boundary and we pray for our brothers and sisters around the world right now. Sustain them. Encourage them. Bless them. Would you take our offering, our act of worship, and multiply it many fold so that your Church would be better equipped to prevail? In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Announce Speakers Don Flow, Allen Catherine Kagina & Wilfred De Jesús – Introduction on Speaker Video (slide on back screen)

11:06 SPEAKER MESSAGE STARTS:

Starts with a dance sequence and the words: Just like you, I entered this world with a sense of wonder. Filled with utter amazement at the possibilities life could hold. Anticipation - hope that my life would be one of meaning, vision, grand vision. Then something happened, reality set in …

12:21 MESSAGE ENDS:

Many of you Christ followers know how this works. You sometimes just turn your hands over to Him and you say “Oh God, speak to me, speak to me.” And what we’re asking God to talk to us about in the next few moments is what is our piece in that grander vision that he wants us to play and that he will wildly bless our lives if we play it in sync with his will?

12:21 – 12:29 (8 minutes)

Spiritual Direction

The message from the three speakers we have just heard is a challenging and very powerful one and we want to give Delegates the opportunity for some personal reflection under your spiritual direction. Please read the room and discern what is appropriate for this time and facilitate the time carefully and sensitively taking over from where Bill has left off on the video message.
God chose you to be a leader and the heart of leadership is servant leadership, giving away platform, position and title. We’re going to spend some personal time reflecting on what the speakers and Bill had to say in this session and how that has impacted us. Please stay where you are and the music group will play as we spend this valuable time with God.
MUSIC GROUP: Here’s my heart Lord (charts & lyrics provided) or reflective music in background if your Music Group have decided not to use this song.

14:21 SPEAKER MESSAGE ENDS:

I go to New Canaan Presbyterian Church in Connecticut, and the ability to sit for an hour and be at peace and listen to somebody else talk, right, other than me, right, and just get a few ideas or just be at peace, I think, -- that is priceless. That is worth, and I can’t even tell you how valuable it is. Bill Hybels: Let’s thank Jeff Immelt. Jeffrey Immelt: Thank you.

Making Succession Plans: Jeffrey Immelt shared some thoughts about the succession process he went through. Does your team have a succession plan in place? Session 8

Louie Giglio: Take the Step (41/00)

Session length: 65 minutes

15:25 – 15:27 (2 minutes)

Introduction to Hardest-Best Video (slide on back screen)
The programmatic element that we are about to watch called Hardest-Best is a very moving piece on a special needs ministry within the Willow Creek community. It could provide a wonderful opportunity for the Facilitator to take up the spirit of the message and put it into a local context, whatever that might be and in whatever form is appropriate for your particular venue/region. This means that you do need to watch the message and prepare in advance for what you are going to say here (download message from the Summit Central website – www.globalsummitcentral.com under the heading United Kingdom & Ireland / Facilitation and then go to GLS Speaker Talks and Programmatic Elements).
15:27 MESSAGE STARTS:

For over 20 years now we have had a ministry here at Willow for children and families who live with disabilities of one kind or another. It’s no secret around Willow that this is one of my favourite ministries. It’s called Special Friends and I show shameless amounts of partiality to whatever their ministry needs …

15:33 MESSAGE ENDS:

I think you get some sense of why that ministry is so special around here and just this one word to mainly pastors. There are families in every community with special needs kids - every community. And this is something that church ought to view as an opportunity to love and serve and spread joy and encouragement. I challenge every pastor to start something for special needs families.

Session 8: Louie Giglio – Take the Step … continued
And now, before we get ready to hear our final speaker, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all been challenged and inspired by what we’ve experienced together during these last two days. Regardless of where you are placed, leadership is hard work. It’s not easy and it’s not for the faint hearted, but it’s a blessing and gift that God has entrusted to us.

Our prayer for this event is that we would be better equipped to do what God has called us to do. The stakes are too high and the challenges are too great for you and me to think that we can do this on our own. No matter what our experience or background is we all need to take our leadership responsibilities and development seriously. There is a Summit mantra that says: When a leader gets better, everyone wins. That’s why we challenge you to make the Global Leadership Summit a priority each year.

Our final speaker is Louie Giglio and I think you are really going to enjoy hearing his message which is entitled Take the Step. We are starting off with an introduction, so sit back and let’s hear what he has to say.

15:37 SPEAKER MESSAGE STARTS:

Founder of Passion, a global movement calling students everywhere to live for what matters most, Louie Giglio’s life has been devoted to an unconventional kind of ministry. As a young man having just finished seminary, Louie started a Bible study at Baylor University. After several years, over 10% of the Baylor student body attended this Bible study. His calling to college students was clear …

16:18 SPEAKER MESSAGE ENDS:

I’m so glad I didn’t give up and I didn’t quit. I’m so glad that I kept going up my mountain.” Don’t quit. Or either quit and then tell God to begin again. Don’t stop walking in the confidence that Christ is enough to fulfill everything He has called you to do. God bless you, you have an amazing mission and a great God who’s going to lead you all the way through. Thank you.

16:18 – 16:20 (2 minutes)

Closing Challenge / Application / Thank you to Delegates / Name Badges and Feedback Forms to Stewards on departure / Prayer / Dismissal

Music Group or CD plays as Delegates leave the auditorium.
