Foundation Scholarship for Students with Special Needs - GCC

The Foundation Scholarship for Students with Special Needs - GCC can be used at either public or private universities, depending on the stipulations. Also, it can be used to cover room and board expenses though the Foundation Scholarship for Students with Special Needs - GCC is typically used to cover a student's tuition. Essentially, recipients of the Foundation Scholarship for Students with Special Needs - GCC have the opportunity to decide where the funds are allocated.

To qualify, students must fill out an application for the Foundation Scholarship for Students with Special Needs - GCC. ASHF Foundation Student with a Disability Scholarship
Full-time graduate students with disability who are enrolled in a communication sciences and disorders programs and who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement are eligible to compete for a scholarship. This scholarship is supported by the Leslie Londer Fund and the American Business Clubs.
Incight Scholarship

The Incight Go-Getter Scholarship is a $750 award that is renewable each year and is for students with physical, learning, cognitive, hearing or visual disabilities.

The University of Florida offers multiple scholarships for students with disabilities accessible on this site. The Transition and Communication Consortium on Learning and Disabilities (TACCLD) awards two LD scholarships. The Hal Hazelett Scholarship for an LD student who is pursuing an education degree and/or a math degree and The Brownell Family Scholarship for students with ADHD. Each scholarship award is for the amount of $1,000.

Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities Youth Achievement Award.
This $1,000 award recognizing the great strengths of young people with LD and/or ADHD will be given to a high school (or younger) student who has demonstrated initiative, talent and determination resulting in a notable accomplishment in any field including art, music, science, math, athletics or community service. Honorable Mentions will also be awarded. This award is not specifically ear-marked as a scholarship.

Students of Parents with Disabilities Scholarship.

Through The Looking Glass College Scholarships For Students Of Parents With Disabilities. Ten separate $1000 awards will be given out this Fall to High School Seniors who have graduated and to College Students who were enrolled in a college or university and were 21 years of age or younger as of March 1, 2010.

We have a limited amount of information on the scholarship for next year. Please visit our website in January 2011 for complete information. As with this year's 2010 college scholarships, the 2011 college scholarships will be for students who have at least one parent with a disability.

Two separate scholarship awards will again be given:

1. 
   High School Seniors - To be eligible, a student must be a high school graduate (or graduating senior) by Summer 2011, planning to attend college in Fall 2011 and have at least one parent with a disability.
   
2. 
   College Students - To be eligible, a student must be currently enrolled in a college or university, be 21 years of age or younger and have at least one parent with a disability.

Selected students will also be invited to attend the all-expenses-paid retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA, in 2011. Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic background, leadership and passion for computer science - $10,000USD for those studying in the US and $5,000CAD for those studying in Canada (based on average tuition costs).

  A current junior or senior year of undergraduate study or enrolled in a graduate program at a university in the United States or Canada (in addition to US and Canada citizens, international students with disabilities studying at universities in the US or Canada are also encouraged to apply)

Awarded to a Community College student with a disability who is pursuing a vocational career goal.

• Walter Young Memorial Scholarship $1,000

In memory of Walter Young, CAPED supporter and husband of Past President, Ellen Young. Awarded to a college student who is blind or visually impaired.

• Steve Fasteau Past Presidents’ Scholarship $1,000

In honor of all the dedicated professionals who have served as President of CAPED.

Awarded to a college student with a disability who has high academic achievement and has shown leadership and dedication to the advancement of students with disabilities in postsecondary (college or university) education.

• CAPED General Excellence Scholarship $1,500

In celebration of student excellence. Awarded to a college student with a disability who demonstrates high academic achievement and is involved in his/her community as well as campus life.
Patricia Sonntag Memorial Scholarship $1,000

In memory of Patricia Sonntag, a Director of the Office of Services to Students with Disabilities from Sacramento State University. Awarded to a student with a disability attending a four-year college or university, who is majoring in a field related to policy formulation or service delivery to students with disabilities or is actively engaged in advocacy or leadership in campus, community or governmental organization that benefits individuals with disabilities regardless of major.
Dick Griffiths Memorial Scholarship $1,000

In memory of Richard (Dick) Griffiths, a Learning Disabilities Specialist and founder of CAPED from Cabrillo College. Awarded to a student with a learning disability who has been challenged in math. (In addition to completing the Student Scholarship Application, the student should include a brief essay on strategies that s/he uses to overcome his/her math challenges, which will be published in the CAPED Communiqué to benefit other students with similar challenges).
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors - Disabled Veterans Scholarship - $5,000

Awarded to a disabled veteran residing in Los Angeles County and attending a postsecondary (college or university) educational institution.

Carl Brown Scholarship

In honor of Carl Brown, founder and long-time director of the HTCTU,  the Carl Brown Scholarship has been created through the Foothill DeAnza CCC Foundation to provide technology and supplies for education for students with disabilities. Special People in Need

This annual scholarship awards $1,000 to a full-time student annually to person with a disability attending an accredited program. The student will prove disability through their Disability Student Services department.
