AbilityOne Recognition Guidance

for the Department of Defense

Criteria for Recognition:


  • Awarding a prime contract with an AbilityOne nonprofit agency

  • Awarding a subcontract to an AbilityOne nonprofit agency

  • Working with the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled to add a good or service to the AbilityOne Procurement List

  • Increasing Government Purchase Card procurements by 50%.

  • Developing specific AbilityOne Program agency level goals

  • Approving acquisition strategies that include participation with the AbilityOne Program

  • Including language in solicitations that encourages subcontracting with the AbilityOne Program


How to Submit Nomination for Recognition:


  • Submit a nomination email to commitment@abilityone.gov. The email should include the following information:

    • Name of the acquisition official

    • Contact information for the acquisition official to include a phone number, email address, and mailing address

    • Supervisor and contact information

    • Contract number or solicitation number

    • Contract award amount

    • Award date

    • Name of the nonprofit agency

    • Identify the good or service being procured

    • Procurement List Recommendation (if applicable)


Recognition to be Issued:


  • Acquisition official will receive a certificate of appreciation jointly signed by the Chairperson of the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled and the Director of Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy.
