About ATLANTA

LOCATION
Atlanta is situated in the state of Georgia and is located to the south-east of America.
Its neighbouring states are South Carolina, to the north and Alabama to the east.
It has no neighbours to the either to its south or east because it is situated at the farthest point on the map.
Atlanta has a population of around 4.7 million people, 1 million of whom are black.
Over the years an inter-racial coalition of its business, political and civic leadership has taken advantage of its strategic position to transform it into a major travel destination, convention centre and transportation hub.
It is the only city in the south and one of only five in the whole of America that has an inner-city public railway system (MARTA).
Atlanta also boasts one of the highest concentrations of African American colleges and universities in the US.
