Atlantic Rim Country Report Name: __________________
Write a report on one of the 12 Atlantic Region countries listed below. Please fill out the sign up sheet with your choice. Only three students will be permitted to write about each country.

Canada (eastern), U.S.A. (eastern), Mexico, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Brazil, Argentina,

Great Britain, France, Spain, Morocco, Nigeria (West Africa)



A. Report Categories

For your report you will research 6 of the following 12 headings (Grade 6). Make sure you underline the headings in your report. You must include a hand drawn coloured map, flag, and any other important pictures.


1. Etymology (What is the meaning behind the name of the country?)

2. History

3. Government and politics

4. Law (Are there any interesting laws that the country has?)

5. Military

6. Geographic divisions (What do they call the sections of land that the country is broken up into? i.e. provinces, territories, or states etc. Make sure you include a hand drawn coloured map that illustrates the divisions.

7. Climate

8. Economy (Is it a rich or poor country? What natural resources are common?)

9. Language

10. Religion (What are the common religions in this country?)

11. Education (How would you describe their education system?)

12. Culture (What food, art, and sports are common etc?)
B. Bibliography

You must use 3-5 sources including at least 3 books. The report must be written in your own words. Include a biography using MLA Citation which is explained below.

Other reminders

All pages must be neatly stapled together. Only use one staple and put it in the top left corner of the page.


It is required that the report is typed. It must be: double spaced, printed in black ink, left justified, Times New Roman size 12 font, lower case unless upper case is required. The report should be around 500 words.
******Make sure that you complete a rough and good copy. Your work must be proofread by at least one adult.***** The rough draft must be handed in. It can be stapled to the back of your report. Please get adults to proofread in blue ink and students in red ink. If you use different colours please specify on top of the rough draft. Always proofread before you get an adult to. Also write the name of the person or people who proofread your report at the top of the page.
