Bausch Proxima PR-I SB4

Broadband DSL/Cable Router – with 4-Port 10/100 Mbit/s switch

Quick Installation Guide

1. Installation & Setup

Connect a straight-through UTP cable between 1 of the 4 the Ethernet ports and the network interface card (NIC) of your PC or workstation.

Connect a crossover UTP cable when the DSL router is connected to a hub or switch.

  • WAN connection

Connect the network cable from your DSL or cable modem to the WAN port of the Proxima PR-I BR41 router.

  • Power Adaptor connection

Connect the power adaptor to the power inlet and turn the power switch on. The DSL router will automatically perform a self-test. During this test the ACT LED will flash. After this self-test the OP LED should be blinking once per second to indicate that the router is active.

The router is now installed and ready for configuration.

2. Configuring Windows for TCP/IP

  • Click the Start button

  • Select Settings

  • Select Control Panel

  • Select the TCP/IP protocol line that has been assigned to your network interface card.

  • Click on the Properties button. Click on the IP Address tab. You have two possibilities:

“Obtain an IP address automatically”

The ADSL router has a built-in DHCP server. This option is standard enabled.

“Specify an IP address”

The standard IP address of the ADSL router is 192.168.7.1. If your network is already configured with IP addresses or you don’t want to use DHCP you have to put one workstation into the 192.168.7.0 (255.255.255.0) subnet.

Now you can access the ADSL router and change the IP address to your subnet settings.

Some older Windows versions will ask you to restart your PC. Click Yes to restart.

Repeat the steps above if you have more workstations your network.

3. Configuring the router via the Web Browser

  • Open your web browser and type the DSL router’s IP address (default 192.168.7.1).

  • Click SETUP (between HOME and BASIC) to start the quick configuration setup.

  • Click Setup1 to view the first page.

  • Select the operation mode (e.g. PPPoe for an ADSL Ethernet modem on a TurboLine® Plus line or similar) and click Next.

  • Complete or change the LAN parameters and click Next.

  • Select “Always ON” and click Next.

  • Fill in your ISP’s username and password. Click on Next.

  • Click Finish and Save to end the installation wizard. All parameters will be saved and the router is restarting.

Please check the manual for other configurations.
