1. Installation & Setup
Connect a straight-through UTP cable between 1 of the 4 the Ethernet ports and the network interface card (NIC) of your PC or workstation.
Connect a crossover UTP cable when the DSL router is connected to a hub or switch.
Connect the network cable from your DSL or cable modem to the WAN port of the Proxima PR-I BR41 router.
Connect the power adaptor to the power inlet and turn the power switch on. The DSL router will automatically perform a self-test. During this test the ACT LED will flash. After this self-test the OP LED should be blinking once per second to indicate that the router is active.
The router is now installed and ready for configuration.
| 2. Configuring Windows for TCP/IP
-
Select the TCP/IP protocol line that has been assigned to your network interface card.
-
Click on the Properties button. Click on the IP Address tab. You have two possibilities:
“Obtain an IP address automatically”
The ADSL router has a built-in DHCP server. This option is standard enabled.
“Specify an IP address”
The standard IP address of the ADSL router is 192.168.7.1. If your network is already configured with IP addresses or you don’t want to use DHCP you have to put one workstation into the 192.168.7.0 (255.255.255.0) subnet.
Now you can access the ADSL router and change the IP address to your subnet settings.
Some older Windows versions will ask you to restart your PC. Click Yes to restart.
Repeat the steps above if you have more workstations your network.
