Organization Summary:
The Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization in Mahone Bay, NS. They look to address different environmental concerns within some of the watersheds of Lunenburg County. Their goal is to promote the restoration, enhancement, and conservation of ecosystems through research, education, and action.
BCAF is involved in a number of different ongoing projects which include Atlantic Whitefish Recovery, Mushamush River Restoration, Mahone Bay Roseate Tern Recovery, LaHave Water Rescue and a number of other research and restoration projects in the area.
As a non-profit organization, the success of the Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation is shared with a group of dedicated volunteers. Volunteering with BCAF is a great way to get a better understanding of the environment, meet new people, and have fun! Anyone interested in an environmental related field or those considering work in this field will receive valuable experience by volunteering with BCAF. The experience will also be considered an asset when applying for employment opportunities with the organization. You have the opportunity to help out with a number of the above mentioned ongoing projects on a regular basis or you can even volunteer at one event at a time such as taking part in an organized beach clean-up!
