Eureka Gold Rush Excursion

On August the 2nd 2017, 5A, 5B and 4/5/6D went on an Excursion to Beenleigh, to learn about what life was during the 1850’s gold rush. We loved the excursion because there were so many fun things to do. We got to haggle at the general store, make damper at the bakery, make tents and even got held up by the resident bushranger!
We also played a lot of games that required teamwork. One of the games was about finding letters with your group to try and figure out what dead bushranger you were looking for. Our favourite game was at the end when we were finding rocks spray-painted gold. Everyone had a great day!

In English we have been studying different types of poetry. We have  written  some poems that  reflect the excursion/ gold rush era.

The Nasty Bushranger

There once was a nasty bushranger,

Who was scary and was a danger.
His name was Sam,
He liked eating ham.
But he was a total stranger.

By Harsimran

The Silly Old Miner

There once was a silly old miner,

Who couldn’t find the diner.
He walked for weeks,
But found a creek.
And now he is called a whiner.

Eureka Gold Rush Excursion

Folding, making, camping, playing.

Running, finding, gold.
Haggling, jailing, exploring, staying.
Finding, cooking, cold.

By Jeremy

Finding Gold

Looking, searching, buying, trying.

Finally, NO, oops.
Finding, almost, frying, crying.
Looking, lying, troops.
